Title: QLD LNP Takes 58-42 Lead into Election Post by Andrei.Hicks on Feb 18th, 2012 at 9:28am
Newspoll has published the first poll of the Queensland election campaign, if that’s what it can accurately be called before the writs have been issued, and it offers no respite for the Bligh government.
The LNP is up three points on the primary vote to 47 per cent, Labor is down one to 30 per cent and the Greens are down one to 9 per cent. Where in the final quarter of 2011 Labor narrowed its two-party vote deficit from 61-39 to 56-44, it’s now back out to 58-42. Anna Bligh has nonetheless gained two points on approval to 41 per cent, with disapproval steady on 50 per cent, while Campbell Newman’s disapproval rating continues to head north, to 37 per cent from 33 per cent in the previous poll and 27 per cent in the one before. His approval rating is steady at 45 per cent after a six-point drop last time. Both leaders are up a point on preferred premier, with Newman leading 44-40. There are also questions on respondents’ strength of commitment to their vote choice, which typically shows less commitment among supporters of the weaker party, and which party they expect to win (54 per cent for the LNP and 22 per cent for Labor). http://blogs.crikey.com.au/pollbludger/ |

Yes looks a pretty commanding lead for the LNP. I would think they will have a fairly comfortable win with a healthy majority. Campbell Newman will work for his seat but so he should.
Then QLD can sit back and wonder what the hell did they do with a premier that has never sat in state parlament, has no idea about economies of scale, has no real strength to his leadership, will struggle in the house and will be dogged for every small move he makes and every word he says. The LNP were unelectable in QLD before Campbell became the unelected leader, i wonder what in the hell has changed in the LNP. Nothing they will be the same incompetent untalented and corrupt organisation they always were. QLD can look forward to a decade of dam hard times. Thanks to Abbott, every conservative leader in this country must now be sure that every tiny little thing they say is followed to the absolute detail whether it is completely stupid or not no matter the changing world they are dealing with otherwise they are the foulest liars ever to walk the plantet. |

Other bonus from having so many States go conservative, voters will unlikely elect a conservative federal government.

Interesting results given Bligh tried her best to highlight that Newman wife's business is under investigation in the US
Shows people are sick of Labor Clive Palmer is going to have a field day with ALP Its an easy line to throw at the electorate "Send Federal Labor a message about the carbon tax and vote Bligh out" Of course Labor will come back with how the carbon tax is action on climate change and it'll save the great barrier reef - which everyone knows is a crock Australian carbon tax will have as much impact on the reef as me taking a leak on the barrier reef |

So what will Liberal's socialist climate change policy do for the environment? We already know it will do very little to bring down Australia's carbon pollution footprint and that this slush fund will require more staff, so a larger government and that it is more expensive than a carbon tax / ETS. So I ask again, what will Liberal's carbon pollution policy do for the environment? |

Yet it isn't. Libs policy results in less carbon reduction, at a greater cost. Lib's socialistic carbon agenda is flawed. |

And YOU speak of OTHERS having "no credibility" ? YOU are RIDICULOUS ! IN boost for the Gillard Government, Wayne Swan has won the prestigious global award of Finance Minister of the Year. The only other Australian Treasurer to win the title from Euromoney magazine was Paul Keating in 1984, when he was dubbed the "world's greatest treasurer" by Bob Hawke. Australia's longest-serving treasurer Peter Costello was never awarded the prize. Mr Swan will be presented with the gong at a reception in Washington this week. Euromoney said he won for his "swift response" to stop Australia falling into recession amid the global financial crisis and for maintaining one of the world's best-performing economies. "Mr Swan receives his award for his careful stewardship of Australia's finances and economic performance both during and since the global financial crisis," Euromoney said. World Bank president Robert Zoellick said the award strengthened Mr Swan's "global influence". An International Monetary Fund report predicts Australia's economy will grow by 3.3 per cent next year - far ahead of the 1.9 per cent average for advanced economies. Most economists say the Reserve Bank could keep official interest rates on hold for another 12 to 18 months. They tip the RBA will wait to see if worries about a double-dip recession in the US and Europe and rising Australian unemployment will contain inflation. The RBA's cash rate has been steady at 4.75 per cent since last November - down 200 base points on November, 2007 http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/wayne-swan-named-finance-minister-of-the-year-by-euromoney-magazine/story-fn7x8me2-1226142070717i |

Isn't it significant that Miss Gillard is banned from entering Queensland during the Queensland State election while conquering Kevin, the rightful prime minister, is welcomed into Queensland with open arms ?
Is Miss Gillard now recognized Australia wide as election poison, particularly after Miss Gillard released the Rudd swearing video ? |

This will be another nail in Gillards coffin.
The only thing that can save the ALP in QLD is a new leader in the Federal world. Voters are turning on the ALP in the states, and a big hand in that is Gillard in the Feds. |

Sorry, it will need more than a new Federal leader I'm afraid. After 16 years of Labor in this state, voters are ready for a change. The LNP could still win convincingly having Humphrey B. Bear as leader. |
