Prosecutors have asked the Adelaide District Court to jail a former lawyer and judge's associate who indecently filmed teenagers.

It heard Anthony Kurt Power, 28, was a lawyer in 2010 when he set up hidden cameras in his home bathroom, at his church at Golden Grove, where he was a youth leader, and at a church camp.

He filmed young people without their knowledge.

Police also found thousands of child pornography files on his computer...

His lawyer urged the court to suspend any prison sentence, but the prosecution said Power should be jailed because the offending was abhorrent and required a significant punishment.

Power will be sentenced next month.

It’s alleged the 48-year-old man installed an upward-facing camera in the floor of a State Transit Authority bus near the front ticket machine last Thursday (9 February 2012) filming unsuspecting passengers.

Detectives attached to North Shore Local Area Command commenced inquiries after being alerted by State Transit Authority to another matter.

Yesterday (Tuesday 14 February 2012), investigating officers executed a search warrant at the man’s residence.

Police allegedly seized a number of computers and electronic storage devices containing thousands of indecent images of females – taken in public places, including onboard STA buses – dating back to 2009.

The victims, which include many schoolchildren, are seemingly unaware they are being filmed.

Earlier today (Wednesday 15 February 2012), the bus driver attended Chatswood Police Station.

He declined to be interviewed by detectives and was subsequently charged with possessing child abuse material (x5), aggravated filming of a persons private parts (x3) and granted strict conditional bail to appear in Hornsby Local Court on 7 March 2012.

Inquiries are continuing.

An assumption on my part, because it said that "the bus driver attended Chatswood Police Station". It is of course possible that he could have lived in the Chatswood area and worked elsewhere....

Even if that was true, good luck with that, girls. You are worth half a man, and anyway, your family will kill you if you dishonouer them by objecting.

Man wanted for petrol attack arrested

POLICE have arrested a man allegedly involved in stabbing and setting alight a woman at a Melbourne petrol station.

The man had been holed up at the Church of Christ in Bayswater, in Melbourne's outer east, surrounded by police.

The church is about 200 metres from the Woolworths service station on Mountain Highway where the woman was allegedly stabbed and set alight about 8.30am (AEST) today.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the woman has been flown to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition with burns to almost 100 per cent of her body...

One man "Beau" said he spotted the woman on fire while he was driving to work.

He tried to help her by grabbing a fire extinguisher while a man armed with a knife warned a group of about 10 people to keep away.

"He was waving a knife around at us - very precarious situation for everyone," he told Fairfax Radio.

"(He was) telling her to burn, not a pleasant sight."

Taylor 'thought Newton would kill her'

Rachael Taylor has reportedly claimed in legal documents that she feared Matthew Newton would kill her during his alleged attack.

The Underbelly actor, who is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation in a Sydney clinic, is believed to have assaulted Taylor a few days after proposing to her in Rome.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Taylor has claimed in her application for an apprehended domestic violence order against Newton that she received treatment for "scarring to her top lip, arm and knee", "neck injuries" and "bruising" after the incident.

The documents also state that her injuries were consistent with having her head "bashed against the floor and walls".

She also reportedly said that Newton has "threatened to end her life" on more than one occasion since January this year.

MATTHEW Newton got off scot free for hitting former girlfriend Brooke Satchwell four years ago because the judge found that he was a "gentleman" who was unlikely to hit a woman again.

A who's who of entertainment provided glowing references, telling District Court Judge Joseph Moore that Newton, who continued to punch Satchwell while she begged him to stop, had the "utmost respect for women".

Bat Yam rally: Death to Jewish women who date Arabs

Some 200 people held a demonstration in central Bat Yam Monday evening against relationships between local Jewish women and Arab men.

One of the protestors called out, "Any Jewish woman who goes with an Arab should be killed..."

Moshe Ben-Zikri of Eilat said the "struggle" began three years ago in Givat Ze'ev. "There were 330 Arab families there, and the Jewish women would walk around with them freely. We vowed this would not happen again.

"Just like we triumphed there, we will triumph in Bat Yam as well. We are not afraid of the police, the media or the Arabs – we only fear God," he said.
