New evidence shows that the stick may be more than 50,000 years old, as scholars previously argued.

Cultural anthropologists from the School of Pakistani Studies in Bradford, UK, now believe they have decoded the mystery of the stick in ancient times.

"We know they had sticks in Atlantis and Mu, for example. What is still under debate is what they were used for," said Dr P.B. Karnal, who headed the Stick project.

"We now have some answers. The texts we studied refer to a form of mind control, akin to the mainstream media today. Apparently, it was very effective. You could point the stick at someone and stop them thinking completely."

Dr Karnal believes that with the right training, this technology could be harnessed today. "We would need to skill up a whole new generation of witchdoctors and medicine persons. Right now, the training only goes up to Certificate IV level. The Faculty have been lobbying for degree status in this area for quite some time."

Currently in Australia to present his research paper, Dr Karnal warns those who want to use the technology for evil over good. "In the wrong hands, of course, the stick could be a huge problem. We believe it should only be used by those with the right ethical training. Those trained in Pakistani logic and thought control would be most suitable."

Dr Karnal will present his project's findings to the Asia-Pacific Conference on Post Colonial Studies in Darling Harbour, Sydney, this Friday.

There was a study done a while back that proved a modified version of the stick as an effective tool in controlling behaviour. It all depends on the placement, of course. As the old saying goes, it's not the size of the stick that matters, but what you do with it.

While smaller than the regular stick that I think you are referring to, when placed in the oral cavity paddle pop sticks were shown to induce vomiting by stimulating the gag reflex, or, exclusively in the presence of doctors, compelling the test subject to emit  an 'ah' sound on command.

Interestingly, sticks placed in other orifices are related to significant changes in attitude, as illustrated in the diagram below.

Well, I was thinking of something a bit bigger. We whites invented the cattle prod - I am, of course, extremely proud of this achievement - but I was thinking of modifying this device and turning it into a stick.

Not sure. Pleasuring Old Boys is not my area of expertise. You need someone with loads of experience. Have you thought about approaching Soren?

A blunt stick inserted into someones eye ball has been known to alter that persons view  on the merits of one particular course of action, event or situation in a favourable way


For example I recently heard someone say "My wife only got me a pair of undies for my birthday but I guess it's better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick "


This persons attitude toward the less than desirable birthday gift seemed to become more grateful when compared to the blunt stick
