Title: The Coalitions Economic policies
Post by GoddyofOz on Feb 11th, 2012 at 3:26am
I didn't create this thread to smear the Coalition, I'm seriously just having trouble understanding what the **** their Economic policies are. I hear one thing from Hockey, another thing from Robb and nothing from Abbott.

I'm happy for someone to explain their policies to me, preferably without damaging your own credibility by trying to deflect it back towards Labor.

will probably have to wait until after we get the budget and know how much massive surplus they will be dealing with...

when we get those figures it should be easy peasy

Don't know about the Liberal, the Nats on the other hand want want to increase aboriginal representation in prision

Aboriginal Policy Section :

Prosecuting Aboriginal Drug Users, Dealers and Bootleggers

Regulate Alcohol

Reduce Smoking

So continue the same patronizing attitude.

For Aged Pensioners, Nats want you out in the heat of day picking fruit, rather than sitting on you butt at home.

The Nationals, want to cut debt by spending borrowed money on inland rail.

Nationals want new taxes : A Tonnage Tax

This will increase the cost of all food items transported.

Nationals support coal seam gas destruction of our agriculture, homes and water assets

Nationals want women out of hospitals and having babies at home. They want more midwives trained.

Nationals want Smaller Paypackets for Men

Nationals want unworking carbon capture and planting trees in semi arid land. Both shown to fail in value for money and for reducing carbon pollution within the coalitions minute aim of 5%.

Gun shooting in national parks.

Nationals want Japanese Whalers to have Satellite transponders so they can track their hunt in Australian waters.

They want everyone to have energy saving light bulbs.

They want to break the current law by sending Australia's  refugees to Nauru

They want every person to be able to webcam, but oppose the NBN

They want timely and accurate weather forecasts from the BOM. Perhaps reading the guts of road kill method is better than current scientific forecasting ... since the coalition is anti science.

Introduce tougher penalties for the unemployed!!!

Impliment paid maternity leave plan giving six months leave at up to $75 000 paid for with a levy on business until the budget return to surplus!!!

Dump the mining tax!!!

Dump the NBN and the forgo the expected revenue it will generate!!!

Dump the carbon tax and any hope of an International emissions trading scheme for Australia!!!

Pay for direct Action from the budget!!!

You would think the Liberal Faithful would be able to talk up Abbott's policies he has said he would implement so far......Yet there is nothing!!!

Typically an opposition do not need anything this far out from an election but with a long record of producing nothing but black holes this may be an exception.

The opposition badly need something to give them some economic credability.

What Abbott has proposed so far is less than inspiring....He is putting his whole economic credibility in the performance of Peter Costello who was not faced with the economic conditions Australia now faces and is no longer in Parliament.....What happened during Howard's reign is now irrelevant to the current Liberal party's economic credibility!!!

That's an under-statement.

These Coalition nut-bars are nothing short of dangerous.

If Abbott wins the next election, I swear I'm gonna be on a leaky boat and out of here.

I have NO desire to live in an Abbott-governed Australia.

I think you will find Julia Gillard has struck some good deals for Australia during this term and her policies will provide much needed revenue to pay for health, education and infrastructure that was neglected during the Howard years.....The revenue that was diverted to the wealthy cannot be sustained and if Abbott cuts taxes further without addressing the inequity in our tax system that sees billions paid to the private sector there will be only one outcome....Wages and conditions will have to be drastically cut to compensate for the aging population and the extravagance of the rich!!!

Yes, Phil, I can live with the things I dislike about Labor policy
as a trade-off for what they have gotten right (which is far
more than the MSM or Libs give them credit for).

But, as I said in another thread, I've seen what an Abbott govt would be like.

So have most of us who are over 45.

We've had it before.

It was called the Fraser/Howard government.

Australia can't afford to make that sort of mistake again.

And a vote for Abbott WILL BE that mistake.

The Liberal Faithful have an opportunity to debate the benefits of Abbott's economic policies and have remained silent.....Even they know Tony Abbott's policies he has said he will implement are complete crap and cannot be defended!!!

Well Im personally losing faith in the Liberal Party quickly.

Even though I oppose a Carbon Tax, I oppose direct action more.  I support a carbon tax, with a government set price, over an ETS.  In the market, the strong can manipulate the price and the weak suffer, thats not the results that one wants out of this.

Do not, repeat, do not dump the mining tax.

NBN, dont really care.

What I do want to see is a super profits tax on business.  Im sick of seeing companies making billions crying poor.

I also want to see far greater accountability from government departments for "blowouts".  You blow it out, you're out.  Im sick of public servants throwing money away with ZERO accountability.

Come to think of it, I just want some serious accountability from Government full stop.

Any policies from the Coalition won't be written and costed for another year when they move from opposition mode into alternative government mode, so right now they are just flapping their gums.
It's Labors policies which are relevant right now.

Because he's a politician Phil. :)
I much prefer to see what a politician does rather than what he says.
Particularly when he says it so far out from an election.

In question time today Abbott suspended standing orders because he claimed the Prime Minister lied to the Australian people about the proposed changes to private health insurance (Not Julia Gillard as Kevin Rudd was leader) Yet before the 2010 election Julia Gillard flagged changes to the policy which is why Abbott had to refer to 2007.....All I can say is GST Mr Abbott.....what about the GST that Howard said he would never introduce and then took to a subsequent election.....Abbott is a total flake who is treating Parliament with contempt....The commitment was made by Kevin Rudd not Julia Gillard!!!

Is it coincidence that -

a) We were always better off under a Liberal Government.

b) As soon as Labor came into power they took aim at the benefits we, as taxpaying citizens and a family unit, were getting.

Labor does tend to focus on looking after losers.

Are you???

Read what I said Macca......John Howard said he would never ever introduce the GST then went to the next election and introduced the GST......Kevin Rudd said he would not make changes to the private health rebate before the 2007 election.....Julia Gilllard went to the 2010 election saying she would make changes to the private health rebate so it is not a broken promise unless you want to also claim John Howard broke his commitment on the GST.....OK!!!
