Quote:
An Iranian nuclear scientist has been killed by a bomb placed on his car in an attack that Tehran's deputy governor blamed on Israel, intensifying a stand-off with the West over Iran's nuclear program.

The bombing, which a city official said was similar to attacks a year ago on nuclear scientists in Iran, came as the United States sought to persuade a sceptical China to help efforts to toughen sanctions against Iran.

"The bomb was a magnetic one and the same as the ones previously used for the assassination of the scientists, and is the work of the Zionists [Israelis]," Iran's semi-official Fars news agency quoted Tehran's deputy governor Safarali Baratloo as saying.

Fars said the victim was a nuclear scientist who supervised a department at Natanz Uranium Enrichment Facility.

The bombing is the fourth attack on nuclear scientists in Iran in the last two years.

It comes at a time of increasing tensions between Tehran and the international community over Iran's nuclear program.

US treasury secretary Timothy Geithner has appealed for Chinese cooperation on nuclear non-proliferation, while secretary of state Hillary Clinton said Iran's move to enrich uranium near the city of Qom was "especially troubling".

"This step once again demonstrates the Iranian regime's blatant disregard for its responsibilities and that the country's growing isolation is self-inflicted," Ms Clinton said in a statement that followed Iran's announcement it had started enrichment in the Fordow mountain bunker complex.

Iran's decision to carry out enrichment work deep underground at Fordow could make it much harder for US or Israeli forces to carry out veiled threats to use force against Iranian nuclear facilities.

Iran insists its nuclear program is purely for civilian use, but Western powers suspect Iran has military goals.

Well, well, well, looks like the Espionage has begun.

I don't think Israel or the U.S should even bother trying to deny this as being planned or executed by them. It's clearly obvious that it was, and the best Iranian Horatios they have will be going over that Car with a fine toothed comb looking for evidence implicating them.

Hopefully we won't have another war - with Iran this time -
that Australia will get sucked into.
Also -the USA is bankrupt & can't afford it.
Israel would get rockets fired at them from Lebanon.
It's not worth the trouble.

Yes they are. As are all the Sunni Arabs around the place. Iran can't have nukes if they are politically hostile to the the US and Israel (while Israel is a US protectorate and ally).

Militant Islamic totalitarianism can come to heel or it can have a confrontation or... er... that's it.

Why sound so pleased?
Do you like War?
Do you imagine that Australia would not be involved after Israel retaliates from an initial Iranian nuclear strike.
Or do you think we will sit on the back end of the planet and stay uninvolved?

What relationship do we have with Israel? If we're dragged into a War involving them, it will be because of the United States, not Israel.
