Title: Honestly, what's wrong with keeping fit? Post by Karnal on Nov 8th, 2011 at 1:16pm
Mr Abbott goes to the gym, swims, runs and rides his bike each day. Isn't this the sort of thing we want in a prime minister?
The leftards had the nerve to bag out Mrs Vanstone, and she was the best immigration minister this country's every had. Now we have a PM who stays in shape and the leftards don't like it. Well, I'll tell you something, we decide who comes to the Lodge and the circumstances in which they come. Don't you want a PM who looks after his health and stays fit? |

They don't like him so they'll just pick on any little thing they can. If he did a lot of charity work, they'd probably attack that as a cynical exercise to appear more compassionate than he really is in an attempt to buy votes - or some rubbish like that. At least with Julia, there are tangible reasons for not liking her - plainly, she's incompetent, untrustworthy and arrogant to the extreme. Not to mention such a dead-boring, monotone speaker that she could put a speed addict to sleep.

Thanks, but it's something the leftards need to answer. We're going to have the first PM triathlete. A lot of world leaders stay in shape these days. Mr Cameron, Mr Sarkosi, that black Muslim, Barack Obama. When Mr Abbott goes overseas as PM he'll be able to do more laps and pump more iron than the lot of them. |

John Howard was quite fit for a man in his 60's. One of his Secret Service detail in the US said ages ago in an interview on a wide range of topics that John Howard was one of the fittest he's walked/ran with and carried himself at a good pace. |

Do you think there would be "Man/Boy Love" if Abbott & Putin ever get together in the same room?

You can all scoff, but Mr Abbott will be able to hold himself in the locker rooms and showers at the G20, CHOGM, the UN and even the White House.
Mr Abbott has already said he won't be dealing with China, but if he did, he would be able to run or cycle rings around them. I would not want to be towel-slapped by Mr Abbott. |

I'm very worried about our future prime minister, whilst he has a body that a 21 year old would die for, his mind does not seem to be keeping up.
Putin can afford to spend endless hours in the gym and pursuing all sorts of physical feats because he has very efficient back up in parliament, whereas Tony has to put all his time into the Liberal party because he has no one else that he can fully rely on. Tony will have to give up maintaining the body beautiful when he's prime minister. He can still look after his health by all means, like Howard did, but he won't have time for both activities. |

Absolute nonsense. When you're PM you get to do what you want. You say when you go to meetings and no one else. If Mr Abbott wants to cycle in his lunch break, it's perfectly reasonable. He can ask his chief of staff to organise his shedule around his regime. This is perfectly understandable. Mr Abbott will be the first Aussie lifesaver PM we've ever had. Other countries will love it. The Japanese, in particular, will admire Mr Abbott and ask him lots of questions about his fitness regime. Our own press gallery will have other ideas, I'm sure, but this is a sign of just how toxic the media have become. You don't hear Michelle Grattan asking questions about laps and protein shakes, but it would make a big difference to ordinary Australians if journalists asked the sort of questions we want asked. |

That would be like Mr Abbott, to go over to Asia flinging his abs around the place, just to show them up because they are fine boned and can't get the same muscle tone as Mr Caucasian Abbott.
I dare him to go back to back with Mr Putin showing off his power bulge, I bet he won't be inviting the Russian News crew to see that. Mr Putin has the body and the brains and his ears are aligned with his head. For one thing, it is far too risky to have the PM dodging traffic in his lycra at 4.30 in the morning, besides the traffic, think of the testicular damage a man of that age could do to himself. We have already had one PM meet his demise in the wild conditions of an Australian beach. A short jog would be admissible under certain conditions. He will not be doing any triathlon when he is PM, that I will guarantee. |
Title: Re: Honestly, what's wrong with keeping fit? Post by Karnal on Nov 8th, 2011 at 3:27pm
Not allowed? Mr Abbott will be answerable to no one - he's the PM!
George W Bush spent a lot of time playing golf. Silvio Berlesconi likes having parties. Why can't Mr Abbott do the sensible thing and stay fit? So far, no one has been able to answer this question. |

No. The PM can't be the treasurer. The PM has to stop the treaurer spending our money.

Well let me tell you ( through the words of someone else)
Abbott’s the exhibitionist who promised he’d be in the Lodge by November 2010, Christmas 2010, Easter 2011, Budget Night 2011, 1 July 2011, Christmas 2011 …. Abbott’s the compulsive liar who vowed he’d stop the NBN, Health Reforms, MRRT, Tobacco Plain Packaging, Government’s Climate Change legislation, Carbon Tax – and failed to change so much as a comma of government legislation – well over 200 Bills now; should be nearing 250 after Carbon pricing passes the Senate today. Under Abbott, the federal Lib-Nats have chalked up what must be close to the (if not the) longest streak of unbroken legislative losses in the history of Australia’s Federal Parliament. And he did that while NewsLtd, the ABC, commercial AV/TV media and a pack of hysterical male shockjocks unashamedly gushing about Tony and verbally abused, lied about and demeaned the Prime Minister hour after hour after hour – abusive, utterly dishonest, “shock and awe” GOP-cloned total-warfare against an Australian PM unprecedented in Australian history. That Abbott, with all that media support, still so comprehensively lost in the only forum that matters – the Federal Parliament – emphasises just what a total loser he and the current Opposition are. You backed Australia’s Greatest Loser. Suck it up, Petal by ~OzPol Tragic Posted Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 7:53 am | Permalink I cant top that and you cant argue with it. ;D ;D |

Funny you should say that. In a recent CIA capture, Karzai said this about the Western leaders: "Please, my brother, we are friends! Call me Karzai. All do. It is a Western custom I like, very demokratic." Karzai notes Khan observing the photos, some taken in this very room. "Let me tell you, whenever those Western leaders meet it is always, 'Blair - you come!' 'Bush, you old dog!' Can you believe? Only the French are different. They like their titles and refuse to speak English. Russians also, but none of them speak any English at all. Still, we are Pashtuns. Let us speak man to man." |

I am a little concerned about the increasing size of our PM. I look at her derriere and wonder if perhaps our PM has any African-American in her genes. All she needs is a tennis racquet and she would pass as one of the Williams girls - viewed from behind of course. My friend Stella who works at Chantilly's Ladies Undergarments caught JG trying to squeeze into a size 12 pair of hipster briefs. Stella snatched the size 12 from JG and tossed her a size 22. She noticed that JG had damaged the size 12 by stretching the garment to breaking point and JG was made to pay for the damage. Thank G*d they don't make lycra garments in size 22. |

apart from your typical inaccuracy you shoudl probably remember that abbott is OPPOSITION leader - not PM. The coalition recently blocked the malaysian (non) solution. prior to the greens getting balance of power Abbott blocked many bits of legislation. ACtually for an opposition leader he sure seems to be blocking a lot of things. try and keep up for a change. |

There is plenty to dislike about Abbott, his lack of consistency, his willingness to blatantly lie for political gain, his religious fanaticism, I mean, if he were a muslim consulting his mullah, or whatever their equivalent of the archbishop is, instead of a mick, then he would be condemned from dawn to dusk as a dangerous fanatic, by one and all, but all that aside, the fact that he keeps fit is a totally stupid thing for any to criticise.
If he does make it to the lodge, I just hope he is not as big an a-hole as his history leads us to expect him to be. |

performance in opposition is rarely any indicator of performance in the big chair. in fact, if you look at history it is replete with examples of brilliant leaders who were crap until they became number one. and plenty of people with impeccable credentials until they became top dog and STUNK at it. Leadership at the very top is essentially unpredictable. Gillard was decent 2IC yet she is a dreadful PM. Howard was unimpressive as opposition leader but as PM was exceptionally popular. Life is like that. Leadership is hard to predict. Abbott has performed way better than anyone expected. He was chosen as a stopgap and nothing more. But he surprised everyone by skyrocketing the libs into almost winning an election that 12 months before could have led to their annihilation. He ended on PMs reign and is odds-on to do it to another. I think you might be very surprised at Abbott as PM. He's a dark horse that is very hard to predict. but he is already the faster vote raising leader in history. |

For once I'd love to see a liberal supporter at least explain how Abbott's contradictions are accepted rather than consistently try to hamper back to old news. Gillard lying doesn't mean Abbott's lying is any more decent. It seems it's a little hypocritical to support one over the other, wouldn't you say? Substantiate how Abbott's contradictions are OK otherwise stop wasting your time. |
