Title: Celebrate diversity!

The Irish Mohammedan Army

October 29, 2011 11:09 A.M. By Mark Steyn
When readers on the National Review 50th anniversary cruise round the British Isles woke up one morning to find themselves anchored just off Waterford, several of them commented to me that the view looked almost too perfectly Irish. Waterford is the oldest city in the country, and the surrounding 40 shades of Kilkenny green on a beautiful summer’s morn made it appear like the opening shot of a Disney movie about a cute leprachaun.

But looks can be deceptive. My former colleagues at The Irish Times report:

THE KNOCK ON THE DOOR of Ali Charaf Damache’s Waterford home came on the morning of March 9th last year. Within hours, news of the arrests of Damache and six others detained during searches of 10 addresses in Waterford and Cork had rippled across the world. The four men and three women were held in relation to an alleged plot to kill Lars Vilks, a Swedish cartoonist who had depicted the prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog. Adding to the intrigue was the fact that two female converts from the US, including one Colleen R LaRose, who used the internet pseudonym Jihad Jane, were being linked to the alleged plot.

I was at a Danish Free Press Society conference with Lars Vilks in Copenhagen last year. He’s an old secular Euroleftie who thinks he should be able to do the same jokes about Islam as he does about everything else. He came home one evening to find the jihad boys had firebombed his kitchen. As they escaped across the snowy field heady with the thrill of their glorious victory, they noticed that they’d accidentally set their clothes on fire, and, after some effort to extinguish them, were forced to discard their smoking trousers. Unfortunately, in abandoning their pants and scampering off through the icy night in their jihadist BVDs, they neglected to remove the charred driver’s licenses and other identifying documentation, from which police were able easily to track them down. Muslim terrorists are all Yosemite Ahmeds – until one of them succeeds.

Lars Vilks takes all this in good humor. Nevertheless, it is still faintly stunning to me that you can find within a population the size of Waterford and Cork seven Muslims willing to participate in a plot to kill a Swedish artist. Even at the height of the Irish “Troubles”, you’d have been hard put to find seven residents of Waterford willing to participate in a plot to kill, say, a British cabinet minister. But things are different now:

Damache allegedly sent a message to Khalid, asking him to recruit online ‘some brothers that can travel freely . . . with EU passports.’

The manifesto states its author is "100 percent Christian",

And my feminist ideals are firmly in place, thank you. I hate rape and rapists - all the more reason not to use rape victims as a tool in a racist agenda.

he acknowledges his, and his continents christian heritage not his personal beliefs.

Quote:
Breivik writes in his manifesto that he is not religious, has doubts about God's existence, does not pray, but does assert the primacy of Europe's "Christian culture" as well as his own pagan Nordic culture. ... [He also] affirms: "As for the Church and science, it is essential that science takes an undisputed precedence over biblical teachings. ... Regarding my personal relationship with God, I guess I'm not an excessively religious man. I am first and foremost a man of logic. However, I am a supporter of a monocultural Christian Europe."

"As this is a cultural war, our definition of being a Christian does not necessarily constitute that you are required to have a personal relationship with God or Jesus," he writes. "Being a Christian can mean many things; That you believe in and want to protect Europe's Christian cultural heritage. ... It is not required that you have a personal relationship with God or Jesus in order to fight for our Christian cultural heritage and the European way. ... It is enough that you are a Christian-agnostic or a Christian atheist (an atheist who wants to preserve at least the basics of the European Christian cultural legacy (Christian holidays, Christmas and Easter)). The PCCTS, Knights Templar is therefore not a religious organisation [sic] but rather a Christian 'culturalist' military order."

Over and over again, Breivik goes out of his way to make clear to readers of his manifesto that he is not motivated by Christian faith. "I'm not going to pretend I'm a very religious person, as that would be a lie," he says. "I've always been very pragmatic and influenced by my secular surroundings and environment.

Now that the dangers of quoting opinions published on wikipedia have been exposed, I wonder why you thought that painting a nutbag as a christian absolves muslims of repsponsibility for their own abhrorent behaviour?

I don't think that at all. I object to any suggestion that Muslim men are more likely to rape than their Christian brothers. Men of all races and religions rape - it is overwhelmingly a male thing, not a Muslim or a Christian thing.

Thats the problem with the whole egalitarain bizzo.  If you compile data of different groups, there is ALWAYS going to be "winners" and "losers."
If you measured the weight of every man, woman and child in the world and divided into racial groups, one would be, on average the heaviest and one would be the lightest.  if you did the same for height, again there's a hierarchy.  Take any trait you want, and we're not all going to return identical data. It mightn't be a great differnce, or an important difference but for gods sake - there IS a difference.    To suggest otherwise is to say there is no such thing as diversity - and it's quite puzzling why you, and those who share your views would argue that diversity is so wonderful, yet at the same time, doesn't even exist.

I don't really give a crap about diversity, Spam. Certainly not for its own sake. I care about discrimination (especially when it's supported by lies) and inequality. Not a single one of us matters or deserves more or less  because of our race or religious belief. I think it's a moral obligation on the people who have a surplus of the basic necessities of life to share it with those who struggle to make it through every day, whatever their skin colour.

People, animals, everything favours their own.  When the very foundation of an ideology is built trying to suppress this natural, understandable and indomitable instinct, it is doomed to fail.  The question is how muich destruction are you going to wreak before you realise this and give up?

More diversity news from Africa:

Hundreds of residents in two restive northern Nigerian cities have fled their homes, fearing more violence after a series of bombs swept the country, killing 40 people. Damaturu, which was struck by two blasts on Sunday, killing three, has been at the centre of clashes between Islamists and authorities in recent days, and saw groups gathered at bus and taxi stations looking to leave.

Meanwhile in Potiskum, residents fled after arsonists set alight 30 Christian-owned shops as well as the home of a Christian leader, on Sunday night in what appeared to be the continuation of religious violence that peaked with the bombing of churches on Christmas Day. "I can't stay here any longer," a man waiting at a bus stop in Potiskum told the Reuters news agency. "It's peaceful today, but it's no guarantee that in the next hours it will remain the same,"

Marilyn Ogar, a spokesman for the State Security Services would not confirm the number of arrests made in connection with the incidents, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing investigations. But she told the Daily Telegraph that police are "arresting as many people as possible" for questioning.

The Islamist group Boko Haram, which has ties to al-Qaeda and aims to impose sharia law across Africa's most populous country, claimed responsibility for the attacks. Nigeria's population is 167 (million), with just over 50 per cent Muslim, and 48 per cent Christian.

It is the second Christmas in a row that it has targeted churches with deadly results, leading to fears that it could set off a new round of sectarian clashes. "The attack on churches is to nationalise the crisis," said Shehu Sani, a rights activist based in Nigeria's north. "It will instigate hitherto neutral people into the crisis. Christians may want to take revenge on Muslims and this is dangerous for the country."

Diversity mongering is the losers' way to shake down the rest.

"We are all different, man, but we want you to give us your money so in that respect we will not be diverse".

How about merit? Same contribution, same reward - that's what we should have. Less contribution, less reward.

But it's stupid to have a 'diversity' of input rewarded the same way.

In the UK they are now arguing that capping social benefits at the level of avarege earnings from work is discriminatory, racist, sexist, neocon, oppressive and all the rest of the PC shibboleths!!!

Your last post in your feminism thread - by "blaming it all on one particular race," you mean how everyone talks about whitey. Blaming us for this, blaming us for that, it’s so unfair.

The tinted races are much more racist than us. Look at how they treat white boat people in Sri Lanka.

Two hundred rupees for a postcard? Appalling! They wouldn’t charge their own kind those sort of prices.

I’m with you. I believe in equality for all the sub-species.

The neo-Stalinist, looney Left (aka the Greens) have mastered the Orwellian Newspeak: unity is divisive, diversity is cohesion:

"Coalition focus on common values lashed"
LABOR and the Greens have attacked opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison's calls for Australia to move beyond multiculturalism to focus social policy on a stronger national identity.

Greens multiculturalism spokesman Richard Di Natale accused Mr Morrison of exploiting a "tired old" Coalition policy.

"Scott Morrison tried to dress up division in the language of unity and sought to lay blame for any cultural tensions on newly arrived migrants," Senator Di Natale said.

In a speech delivered in Britain on Thursday night, Mr Morrison said Labor's multicultural policy gave too much emphasis to diversity "as an end in itself".He promised the Coalition would "explicitly recognise the supremacy of Australian values, the primacy of the English language, respect of existing institutions and adherence to the rule of law".

what you all seem focused upon is not diversity...  it is plurality....
seems the only people in the world considered our species are Christian and Muslim.  ::) How ethnocentric is that.?!

That is just so narrow-minded, that it is funny to hear all this 'speak' under the topic  Celebrate Diversity.

You might not realise it,  but there are many many many many more faiths in Australia.  Your fixation with C v M completely excludes all the wonderful people who think of both C's and M's as sadly misguided.

Have to admit, someone did mention Chinese,  but not in context,  and Norwegian , about a tragedy that didn't happen here...but dragged in C v M.  Jeez!!?

Diversity is here to stay, and I for one believe any culture  ( or in our case,  budding culture)  can only benefit from lots of new ideas... why do you all cling so fearfully to C v M ??.... the world is a big place,  and lots of the world's variety of peoples are striving to create a better new life here.
Don't be so fearful ..so biased,... it must make you feel more in control I suppose ? ...  but enlightened folk realise that this type of attempt at fascist control is negative and can only have a destructive affect on our culture...

Ever thought of a different approach??

Celebrate it and EMBRACE it.  :)

Television news footage last week showed incidents filmed on a mobile phone on a Saturday night, in the borough of Waltham Forest, of men shouting “This is a Muslim area” at white Britons.
The video commentary stated: “From women walking the street dressed like complete naked animals with no self-respect, to drunk people carrying alcohol, we try our best to capture and forbid it all.”
Another scene showed hooded youths forcing a man to drop his can of lager, telling him they were the “Muslim patrol” and that alcohol is a “forbidden evil”. The gang then approached a group of white girls enjoying a good night out, telling them to “forbid themselves from dressing like this and exposing themselves outside the mosque”.
Worse, though, is film footage from last week, thought to have been taken in Commercial Street, Whitechapel, which showed members of a group who also called themselves a “Muslim patrol” harassing a man who appeared to be wearing make‑up, calling him a “bloody fag”. In the video posted on YouTube last week, the passer-by is told he is “walking through a Muslim area dressed like a fag” and ordered to get out. Last Thursday, police were reported to have arrested five “vigilantes” suspected of homophobic abuse.
There are, of course, other Europeans in my area who may share my feelings but I’m not able to talk to them easily about this situation as they are mostly immigrants, too. At Christmas I spoke to an elderly white woman about the lack of parsnips in the local greengrocer, but she turned out to have no English and I was left grumbling to myself.
Poles have settled in Ealing since the Second World War and are well assimilated, but since 2004 about 370,000 east Europeans have arrived in London. Almost half the populations of nearby Ealing and Hammersmith were born outside the UK. Not surprisingly, at my bus stop I rarely hear English spoken. I realise that we can’t return to the time when buses were mainly occupied by white ladies in their best hats and gloves going shopping, but I do feel nostalgic for the days when a journey on public transport didn’t leave me feeling as if I have only just arrived in a strange country myself.

And in Sydney:

NSW Police acting Organised Crime director Arthur Katsogiannis said it was vital the city's Middle Eastern community broke down the "wall of silence" surrounding the recent crimes. "They know who's got the guns, they know who's using them and concealing them," he said. "We need their co-operation to stop that because it could be their son or daughter who is shot.

"If you want to stand back as a community and allow these people to use guns, then you are going to suffer the consequences."
...
Keysar Trad, of the Sydney-based Islamic Friendship Association of Australia, questioned the call for greater co-operation with police. "This is a policing matter. I don't know who has got the guns and that would go for most of the community," he said.

What? You can't  read a cookbook?

And anyway, why is it that defenders of diversity can never ever think of anything but food as an illustration of the benefits of it.

Eating and fooking are no proper grounds for an immigration policy unless you are a monkey.

Why not? We let cheese-dealing bottoms like you in.

Are there other services you provide that we’re unaware of?

Never mind gun control. Guns don't kill people, ejukashun kills people and it is demonstrated right here:

What happens when American college students take their “academic studies” seriously? Meet “anthropology major” Nkosi Thandiwe, who shot three white women in midtown Atlanta:

During his testimony Wednesday, Thandiwe suggested that his reason for even purchasing the gun he used in the shootings was to enforce beliefs he’d developed about white people during his later years as an anthropology major at the University of West Georgia.

“I was trying to prove a point that Europeans had colonized the world, and as a result of that, we see a lot of evil today,” he said. “In terms of slavery, it was something that needed to be answered for. I was trying to spread the message of making white people mend.”

By shooting them. Maybe we need college control. What’s sauce for the NRA is sauce for the NEA.

Black people need to be licenced and regulated if they want to attend post-colonial studies courses. Can't have more than one semester and only in distance mode.

Top 10 Reasons to Be Thankful for Diversity

bollocks, the lot of them, but my personal favourite:

Quote:
2. Play ball! Looking forward to the big match up between brothers Jim and John Harbaugh when their teams the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens meet on Thanksgiving? In 2010, we were thankful for 70 percent players of color in the National Football League. And at the beginning of the 2011 season, the National Basketball Association reported 83 percent players of color, Major League Soccer reported 48 percent players of color, and Major League Baseball reported 38 percent players of color.

It seems the author doesn't actually know the meaning of the word 'diverse'.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
