Under Albert Einstein's theory of Special Relativity, however, a physical object cannot travel faster than the speed of light in a vacuum.

its a fascinating notion and it gave me a smile about the 'science is settled' climate argument. this is one of THE fundamental laws of phsyics and yet it appears we may be wrong about it... ;D ;D

On the radio early this morning the scientists involved were interviewed.
They are pretty certain a mistake has been made in their experiments but they can't find where. That's why they are going public with their findings and process - so as to get the most heads possible working on it.

They believe it's got something to do with the accuracy of their timing method.
