Title: The United States of Multiple Personality Disorder Post by Yadda on Sep 21st, 2011 at 10:21am
'The United States of Tara'
I did not watch it last night. I have seen the promotion for the TV show, 'The United States of Tara', which is returning to ABC tv. The paradigm that is revealed in the TV show, 'The United States of Tara', is much closer to the truth than many may imagine. To me, the popularity of such a show say's a lot about us [about our spiritual ignorance]. And i find it sad [and revealing], that many people today would find such a show 'entertaining'. And it reveals that we, collectively, don't commonly recognise [that we refuse to acknowledge], what such a condition Multiple Personality Disorder [MPD] is portraying. .....which is demon possession. IMO, a large component of 'sin', is the act of choosing, badly! And sin is choosing to embrace an evil spirit, a spiritual entity, which seeks to join itself, to us. We ourselves, are the 'gatekeepers' of our hearts. We choose which spirits we allow [invite] into our hearts. And sin is 'empowered' within us, when we love [the corruption, the 'flesh' of] this world, more than we love the purity [the spiritual righteousness] of our God. But it is useless, to try to warn those who are possessed - because the will of the 'strong' demon always overrides, the 'weak' personality of the host. Only in seeking to be joined with God's spirit can we be protected [and in a sense, protect ourselves] from domination by the spirits of this world. |

Regards demons and demon possession, i came across this interesting post [a couple of years back], on the ABC ENOUGHROPE online forum.... "From: Lucy 7/04/2008 11:10:15 PM Subject: re: Has anyone connected belief with mental illness? post id: 1379 My son has schizophrenia and believes that the goodness of Christianity has saved him. Since reading the bible he no longer sees demons- if the demons ever reappear he reads the bible again and prays and the angels save him. How can I argue with that? better to be saved by an angel than tormented by a demon. That is how he lives with it. I should mention that prior to his illness he was not religious." http://www2b.abc.net.au/enoughrope/forum2/archives/archive8/newposts/1/topic1934.shtm Of course i am biased, but imo, Lucy's account reveals good advice. ...for spiritual protection [from demons], read the Bible, and pray [ask God to protect you]. IMO, reading the Bible is a form of spiritual invocation. p.s. Regards schizophrenia; I believe that drug use can cause, what is referred to as 'schizophrenia'. I don't know if that guy [Lucy's son, above] was a drug user, but my advice, do not take 'recreational' drugs. I can't prove it, but i believe drug use can 'open' us to demons. |

My schizophrenic son was persuaded to read the bible by its bashers. When I cleaned out his room recently after he moved to Queensland to spend time with his mother I found 87 bibles and a couple of Korans. later I found another 35. I tried to return them to the church based Op shops he bought most of them from. None of them wanted them and they were consigned to the tip. Land reclamation is probably the best use, they certainly don't cure schizophrenia and probably make it worse.

Hmmmmm. I sense some bitterness in your post grey. Maybe you could have received something beneficial yourself, if you had retained one of those Bibles ? Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. |

AA, While we are talking about 'crazy' people, and 'psychos', what do you think of this very simple definition of sanity.....? Quote:

My wife had an aunt who suffered schizophrenia throughout her life until cancer took her earlier this year in her 70s. She's been through it all - institutionalisation, electro-convulsive shock therapy, you name it. She was also a fervently devout Catholic throughout her life, apparently having considered becoming a nun in her younger years. Her faith was like a rock and gave her the resilience to cope with some pretty raw deals throughout her life. She definitely knew her stuff and was known to argue with her parish priest when she thought he'd got it wrong.
But even she acknowledged that the only thing that helped the schizophrenia at bay was the modern drugs. |

They were given medications that are often referred to as antipsychotics since they help decrease the intensity of psychotic symptoms. But these medications has some side effects like sleepiness, dizziness, and increased appetite.

And the shakes. As one professor at least has put it, "we're treating Schizophrenia by inducing Parkinsons." A good swap? Not really. It makes life easier for the rest of us. |
