What do you think? All have elections scheduled for 2012.

I can't speak for NT and ACT, but as far as QLD is concerned, I honestly think Labor have it in the bag because of two things:

- Blighs popularity hit the roof for her handling of the disasters earlier in the year

- Everybody up here hates Campbell Newman for abandoning his position as Mayor of Brisbane just for his own political gain.

Action Man Abbo is bad enough but that Campbell Newman really creeps me out - he's like Abbott on steroids!

Imagine how the Lib parrots would be squawking now, if the Lord Mayor of any State Capital had been a Lab and he'd (or she'd) been so arrogant as to appoint himself (or herself) Premier (or Opposition Leader) without ever having sat in the State Parliament!?

Imagine if Bligh suddenly appointed herself Federal ALP Leader - and therefore PM or (Opposition Leader)....

Seriously, we'd never hear the end of it!!!  For starters, the media would be all over her - and Lib sheeple would be calling her every name under the sun...

One rule for right whingers, another for lefties...

Hey, Tony Abbott should watch his back - cos Campbell Newman might be using Qld Trpposition Leader as a stepping stone to the Federal level...

The polls are always pretty much 100% correct.

Except when they're a long way out from the likely real-world polling day (election)...

Pollsters can get away with fudging the data - with arbitrary and therefore dubious inclusions, exclusions, omissions, use of preliminary questions which serve to colour responses...

Then there's the magic 'weighting' processes: -

* Which arbitrarily fudge the demographics by state, region, gender, age, etc. to skew the results, and;

* To get to a TPP figure - which can be either based upon the preferences cast at the last election or on an actual question in the opinion poll as to second preferencing.

The only time that pollsters are ever held close to account, is in the last few weeks and days before an election - since the election day result will provide a definitive outcome and thereby either validate or belie the opinion polling results...

Oh look at that, an editorial from the Rights favorite website just shot them down cold.

In fact, I'm gonna give this its own thread.

So why do you think labor keep doing policies on the run and knifing their leaders. They seem to follow polls and public opinion. They dont seem to do it at election time. So with that said, polls do matter to some, but the ultimate poll is an election.

They matter to those that like to cling to the false hope that the 2013 election has already been decided. If that weren't what people like Maqqa thought, he wouldn't be throwing the statistics around everywhere like confetti at Marti Gras.

I think you will find first and foremost, is that it validates the anger felt around them by this incompetent labor government and even worse PM, the anger around them from the lie to get elected, the carbon tax that will do nothing.

The polls are showing the anger around them is valid and will very likely transfer into a win for liberals.
