After a Hockey Game (a FINAL) I gather - the Canadian team - Canucks - were defeated by Boston ? from the hateful US.

Then ensued rioting through the streets, cars burned etc etc, by people wearing Hockey jumpers. AND - it apparently spread to other cities in Canada, altho the item didn't go into specifics.
It was quickly announced by 'authorities' that this violence and destruction was not caused by Hockey fans -  but rather, by ANARCHISTS !!, disguised, prepared beforehand with petrol, fire extinguishers,,.. to use as weapons..? uh hmm?

As our resident anarchist , do you think this is a feasible scenario?

No I don't think it's a feasible scenario. If a riot is pointless with no clear message it's not an Anarchist riot. One Anarchist from Perth was present apparently.

Seems riots have happened previously over Canadian hockey games, therefore I reckon more a case of sour grapes than anarchist plot, with local criminals simply taking advantage of the initial disturbances. Although Canada has a reputation as a genarally peaceful and law abiding place, Vancouver has a rather dark underbelly of crime.

Just like everywhere else I'll bet. ::)

The Greek protest is international, brigades are pouring in from across the EU. This is protest not revolution, just poor people sick of having to pay for the excesses of the rich. It's a line in the sand movement.

Indymedia thessalonika and Athens are being blocked but this London Blog is well informed.

I think most of us in OZ  - 'cos  lets face it -

,......most of us don't really GET it.! We have grown up informed by the telly, and very little else, if you want to be honest about it.   Great baby-sitter - the telly.!! :(

We here in Oz are so FAR AWAY from these acts of rebellion, in our conscious national persona, - that what we think really matters  NOUGHT.!   Not in the wider scheme of  'things'. .

We are a thoroughly regulated and subdued populace - in general.!
And we are 'shocked' and 'outraged' by disorderly or dissonate protest. !!  

It seems only occasional outbursts of anger are tolerated by the Authorities.
Witness - what the Police did to protesting TEACHERS - not that long ago - in ???? Vic? or NSW?

We might be a long way from this 'distasteful protest, by anarchists!!',  in physical terms - ie Geography!!
But we are getting closer  --- evryday ---  in  real human terms, here in Oz.
