Interesting graph....
Does show that there haven't been any 'real' improvements or changes to the internal combustion engine over the last 100 years.. |

There have been substantial improvements.
This was offset by the rest of the car - heavier, safer, bigger, faster, air con, electric everything, automatic transmission etc. Plus, fuel has effectively gotten cheaper the whole time, so the incentive for fuel efficiency went down. |

What crap.
Modern engines are way ahead of what came previously. Fuel injection, closer tolerances, less reciprocating weight, improvements in materials, better understanding of engine breathing. Remove ead free fuel requirements, noise and emission controls and suddenly they become light years ahead. Combine that with more aero dynamic bodies and overall fuel consumption for cars of a similar engine config, capacity and load carrying has near halved over the past 40 years. |

Man, I just cruise at the 'sweet spot' of 80kms phr whenever I can (pull aside if in 100km+ zones to allow others to pass) and add anything up to an extra 100kms upon my mileage.
Having a manual and not having to 1st/2nd my way towards the city for work helps as well. I love to cruise through life. :) |

Yes its amazing.
More people are buying Motorbikes in Sydney. Clover Moore has an electorate of happy voters who enjoy her progress towards 'pro-cycle'. Chinese Economy is booming and like idiot inbreeds from a 'small' gene variation, they are ditching the bicycles, to sit in traffic jams for hours just to be in a motor car. ::) ;D |

I think they're saying China demands 10 million barrels of oil per day and that will/could become 20 million barrels per day in ten years! ::) :o :o |

..
We still have to keep these numbers in perspective; on a per capita basis, China consumes slightly more than one-tenth of the oil that is consumed by the United States at 2.3 barrels of oil per person per year versus 21.8 barrels of oil per person per year. ... source: http://www.oyetimes.com/news/asia/8993-china-102-million-barrels-of-oil-per-day-and-counting |

Gotta laugh though.
China the New Boom Economy / SuperPower / etc. ...yet they have inherited everything that is going out of date. China is also the only nation that is paying its people $15,000 to Patent whatever they can. China is going crazy Patenting everything it can to prevent other Nations from progressing in Manufacture, Innovation etc. They don't intend to do anything with the Patents - just strangle the Global Patenting Circuit so to speak. |
