Apologies to all if I appear to have taken the topic a little off course with a little humour this morning.
I trust the Moderator of this forum has the insight to see that even a joke is always half true. Global warming and its potential and actual impacts on our environment is a serious and valid concern IMO. I would love to see a global consensus approach to ensuring that our environment has a chance to remain safe. I feel that it's the least we can do for our children. We just cannot afford to take the health of our environment for granted anymore. |

I stated this in another topic and I think it pertains to this one also :
At some stage we're going to have to come to terms with the fact that if we don't collectively give a damn about our environment .. then we're permitting and inviting global genocide. |

The late Admiral James Stockwell was the most senior member of the US military to be imprisoned by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war. He is probably most famous in business circles for the "Stockwell Paradox".
When asked who didn't make it out of Vietnam, Stockdale replied: "Oh, that’s easy, the optimists. Oh, they were the ones who said, 'We're going to be out by Christmas.' And Christmas would come, and Christmas would go. Then they'd say, 'We're going to be out by Easter.' And Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving, and then it would be Christmas again. And they died of a broken heart." Stockdale then added: "This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be. I think more people should have the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of our current reality, and as Stockwell went on to say during his later career as a business consultant - you then need to back up that faith to prevail with a carefully drawn up plan describing how to achieve your objectives - and stick to it. The Vietnamese people were confronting the brutal facts on a daily basis
NAPALM - US War Crimes (Corporate Profits) Water Torture - Guess which army? AGENT ORANCE (Big DOW CHEMICAL PROFITS) AGENT ORANGE Yes the Vietnamese dealt with their current reality everyday Stockwell received his medals and consulted for US corporations after the war - probably goes to church every Sunday praying to our lord Jesus for slavation of whats left of his soul |

Yes, the Vietnam war itself was a tragedy, but that doesn't lessen the courage of those who participated on both sides.

The courage was on the side of the civilians who were being attacked and having their country poisoned and bombed for over a decade. TO equate the suffering and death of Americans and some its patsy allies to that of the Vietnamese (North and South) shows how muso distorts simple historical truths. 1.2 million + Vietnamese civlian deaths (countless injuries and Genetical deformities) 58,000 US deaths (almost every one of them military personell) All tragic loss of life - but lets gets some honest perspective here hey muso I may be asking too much of muso - seeing as his shameful TEPCO apologetics that have raged in here from the moment tsunami slammed into the Fukushima nuclear power plant facility. |

War is always a tragedy on a human scale. You can't blame individuals for the misguided actions of their leaders. Have you read The Neanderthal Parallax by Robert Sawyer? He tends to summarise the triviality of the Cold War by asking the question (paraphrased) - Why would you go to war and kill millions of people just because you have different economic systems? I think you'd appreciate that trilogy. |

Title: Re: Climate Science Post by Soren on Apr 22nd, 2011 at 9:28am
The Cold War was not about economic systems. It was about what human nature is, what the proper and fitting social organisation is for humans and the like. It was about where we are, by nature, on the Robinson Crusoe-Spartan phalanx scale.
Economics is only a part of it, not the whole. It is unsurprising that our resident stupid drongo has successfully covered even the climate science thread with his usual anti-American spittle. Stand by for inane and completely irrelevant picture. |

I am not anti-American, I just dissagree with US foreign policy (and the bulk of Americans feel the same way). Obvioulsy Soren cannot counter the arguments put forward so he resorts to the old discrimination card - ANTI-AMERICAN. See how Soren avoids the simple questions I ask? Like the one concerning the UN resolution to BAN fissile nuclear materials used in weapons? Vote was 147 to 1 THE USA was the only nation to vote against THere were 2 nations that abstained - the UK and Israel (LOL) Even the puppet state Australia voted with the ALMOST unanimoius world opinion. Well Soren, do you think Australia should join the USA in its rogue state propagation of violence and hatred? Watch ladies and gentlemen - watch Soren go into hiding and resort to insults The refuge and ploy of a true moral coward. A coward who cannot even face the future. A coward who desseminates hatred, racism and ignorant right wing propaganda for obvious motives |

Depleted Uranium munitions used in Iraq led to some pretty horrendous consequences for the civilian population. There is evidence that some of the batches were also contaminated with nuclear waste.
It's a subject that went cold in the press around 2003, but allowing children to play in U3O8 dust from DU munitions that caught fire on impact was not the smartest thing that the US military ever did. |

We're lucky. We had ancestors who had hearts of steel that our generation could never understand. We should not question our prosperity that they gave their lives for.

Global warming is one of the battles that we tend to end for but we cannot persevere to do it. I agree that global warming at the present times is one of the greatest crimes that we undauntedly committed to the environment since we are partaking to destroy it and not worrying to kill for. How can we really help to eliminate this crime if we are insensitive enough to care for our environment? I guess we should start to act on ourselves for us to see the change that we want to see in the world. By doing such on the above pointers we are able to fight the battle positively. We should undoubtedly step up to our comfort zone to see our real dwelling place begging a help and to hear as well Mother Earth's soul crying because she is being drawn to a great destruction that we human had caused her. Climate change and global warming had conquered its long journey that until now it is persuasive for us human. Let me be the voice of change that could speak to human race to understand her and address her prominently.
