Title: Carmel Tebbutt claims victory Post by bogarde73 on Mar 30th, 2011 at 1:52pm
CARMEL Tebbutt has claimed victory for Labor in the inner-Sydney seat of Marrickville.
Pre-election opinion polls indicated NSW Greens candidate Fiona Byrne would steal the former deputy premier's seat on March 26, but a day later the result was too close to call. Today Ms Tebbutt claimed she had retained the seat. "I am humbled and honoured that the people of Marrickville have again placed their trust in me to represent them in the NSW Parliament," she said in a statement. "With a check count completed, I have achieved 13,543 primary votes and a two-party preferred outcome of 52.3 per cent. "Marrickville has defied political gravity to remain Labor. I thank the people of Marrickville from the bottom of my heart for their support." A spokesman from the NSW Electoral Commission said an official result would not be announced until Monday. |

I tried valiantly to draw Buzz into declaring who he wanted to win this seat, The Labor Deputy Premier Tebbutt or the anti-Jew Green.
I put his refusal down to lack of guts. Frankly Iwould rather see Labor win govt than the Greens to get any kind of power. But I guess it takes all kinds. |

I think it was 2 nichy, unless you count the ex-Premier's seat which was always a longshot.

At least the voters in NSW were smart enough to keep that xenophobic bitch Hanson out of parliament. :-* It just shows that support for her is limited to the loony minority. ;D |

I'm not sue, but Antony Green seems to be, he wrote this, this morning. The ABC election analyst, Antony Green, said she was unlikely to win, because the winner will probably be determined by the distribution of either Labor or Greens preferences. She is not likely to get many Labor or any GREENS preferences, us GREENIES saved the state from the low life moron, you should be thanking us gizmo. ;D ;D ;D |

A hateful nasty mob of anti-semites. Nothing is better than seeing a bunch a party supported by tree-huggers and queers get a sound beating. They offer us nothing. All I hear is 'environment, environment, tax, tax, environment' They bore me. |
