A good performance during the Queensland flooding has put Queensland Premier Anna Bligh's Labor Party ahead in the latest Newspoll.
The Newspoll conducted for The Australian newspaper puts Labor's two-party preferred vote at 52 per cent in the January-March quarter, 11 points ahead of its position for the October-December quarter. The Liberal National Party has lost its lead on Labor dropping from 59 per cent in the October - December poll to 48 percent in the January- March quarter. In comparison to John-Paul Langbroek, Anna Bligh's ratings have risen from 31 per cent to 53 per cent in the recent poll on who would make a better premier. Langbroek's approval dropped from 41 per cent to 26 per cent - the poll was conducted before his resignation on Tuesday. Ms Bligh's personal approval ratings have also risen from 24 per cent prior to Christmas to 49 per cent against 43 per cent dissatisfied.
