Title: How do you get a troll off your case on this forum Post by Lisa on Mar 14th, 2011 at 11:07am
Mods .. I would love some feedback .. please?
I've tried telling the idiot in question to sod off for over a week now .. but she isnt getting the message. I've tried IGNORING the idiot in question .. BUT that only exacerbated the issue .. coz she then started attacking me FOR ignoring her AND she saw fit to take her crap 1 step higher by including my husband in her personal attacks. THEN she started on children .. which resulted in me telling her exactly what I thought of her low blows. ANY ADVICE MODS? An ignore button perhaps?? I'm out of ideas here ... |

Lisa,
As a mod you should have the power to get them banned. Surely FD will listen to you? |

This will be interesting. If I'm banned - I've got a huge list of your abuse & stalking of new members that I'll submit to FD on his other board.
- Mantra Also .. I don't appreciate being blackmailed or threatened FOR reporting the person in question. ENOUGH! |

Title: Re: How do you get a troll off your case on this forum Post by Equitist on Mar 14th, 2011 at 11:26am Nothing good can come of drawing extra attention to a communication breakdown between two posters - nor from inviting Mods and others to participate and/or take sides - but now that this has raised its ugly head, here's my 2c worth... Firstly, just because people don't openly comment upon altercations, this should not be assumed to mean that people are not taking notice - nor that they are not forming negative opinions of the most vocal complainant/s... Sorry, but what was that about complaining over a certain someone interrupting conversations on a public forum - surely that provides an indication of a one-sided perspective on a mutually dysfunctional cyber relationship!? This is not my war - and there will definitely be no winners - so I intend that this will be the last post I make on this... Hence, I would reiterate my recommendation of a public declaration of a truce - followed by an extended period of no direct or indirect interaction by either party... Note: that truce would need to extend to no public references to interrruptions, or declarations drawing of attention to any snide or otherwise ambiguous comments, whatsoever. Yer, I know, folks: too much wishful thinking! :-X |

Mantra's been on this forum a lot longer than you. If I remember correctly, it's only been a couple of weeks since you were pretty much sycophantic where she was concerned.
Why is it that almost everyone here seems to have a problem with you? Maybe you should take some time to think about that. |

Title: Re: How do you get a troll off your case on this forum Post by pansi1951 on Mar 14th, 2011 at 11:27am
You might have to ignore them and post around them because you will surely end up being banned if you respond in the way they want you to. I try to ignore but it's hard sometimes.

Pansi .. I've tried that .. she came back baiting and trolling and attacking worse than ever ( and escalating the abuse by including my husband and also tried to include children too). It needs to be sorted out .. I've reported her crap to 3 Mods .. irrespective of the fact that she has NOW tried to blackmail/threaten me about it all. Ya dig? It's passive aggressive behaviour at its best. Why? Because this all started some weeks back when SHE entered a topic I was in discussing an issue with another poster .. and she saw fit to make gross generalisations about me which were inappropriate and totally unfounded. And I told her that they were. The result? NON stop BS ever since. And here we are ... |
|
Title: Re: How do you get a troll off your case on this forum Post by mantra on Mar 14th, 2011 at 11:33am
Fine - I'm prepared to ignore Lisa totally if she stops making snide comments in completely irrelevant threads referring to me as a troll, moron, idiot, lowlife etc. and shrieking GGF & SOD off in nearly every post.
I notice she cops a lot worse from other posters - but the big difference is that they're male. |
|
Title: Re: How do you get a troll off your case on this forum Post by Equitist on Mar 14th, 2011 at 11:36am I know I said I would try not to...but... Here's another hint: very few people feel compelled or entitled to make notifications to Mods - and the majority of the people who do so tend to make notifications in relation to extreme instances of socially-unacceptable behaviours towards 3rd parties and/or the severe demonisation and vilification of minority groups - rather than to repeatedly seek to involve the Mods in petty interpersonal squabbles... :-X |

Title: Re: How do you get a troll off your case on this forum Post by Lisa on Mar 14th, 2011 at 11:41am
FFS .. stop generalising again. What is it with you?
It's really freaking me out. Now I am pro male?? Is that what's at the core of all the BS I am copping? Do you seriously think that if you were a MALE I'd take your BS? GET SOME SERIOUS HELP .. and FAST. As I said before .. a ban isnt gonna help what you have .. but some medication will. I don't wtf is wrong with you .. it's freaking me out. And threatening me/blackmailing me?? It's gone beyond scary now. |

I agree. I have rarely bothered them over the years and prefer to deal with it here, but there are some who run to them continually because they can't handle anyone who disagrees with them. Forums aren't easy places at times and perhaps my tolerance for Lisa isn't as high as it should be. There are 4 people in as many years that I have complained to FD about. Lisa was being abusive to other members for a long time before I butted in. |

Title: Re: How do you get a troll off your case on this forum Post by Equitist on Mar 14th, 2011 at 11:44am PS I wonder if FD has access to site stats on how many times individual posters have hit the 'nanny button' - cos I'd be curious to know how many people habitually and/or hypocritically cry wolf v's those who rarely or never feel inclined to involve Mods... I cannot claim that I have never pressed said button on here - but I don't think that the number of times I have done so could be counted on more than one hand... |

Oh ok Mantra .. here is a male .. perhaps if he started making inappropriate generalisations about my life which were totally unfounded (and baseless and I tell him they are) .. yeah perhaps if he then started a frigging dysfunctional WAR in his mind .. which directed him to get even with me by following me around and interrupting my convos with others 24/7 .. then when I ignored him .. he only came back worse than ever and started to include family members in personal attacks and then started on children .. yeah I'll be ok with all that! Yeah he is a male .. I'd take all that sitting down .. because YOU have ASSUMED I am PRO MALE in that sick head of yours which as I said needs more than a ban .. it needs frigging medication. Which brings us back full circle to YOU Mantra .. YOU ASSUMING! Ok .. I'm done. |

People who complain to moderators, I put in the same category as those who would run to the teacher at school. For fks sake, harden up people. This whole run to the moderator bollox is absurd. |

I'll have a look at the issue by the end of the week. Unfortunately I have some other pressing problems involving an oncologist. If that's not good enough, maybe Freediver or some of the other mods have some free time.
In the meantime, please don't call people idiots or use threatening language regardless of what you think they have done. That goes for all parties involved. I don't have enough time to tidy up this thread. Could you please go back and self censor? The Buddhists say "Nobody can hurt me unless I agree" Try to apply that. |

Well said Deathridesahorse!
Ok .. I'm fighting back .. and it starts here .. by taking a stand and saying NO MORE of this BS! It's not ok and it's not on. ( How am I doing lol ) :P Ok everyone else .. I read back .. seems Mantra has agreed to lay off my case ( which is what I asked of her nicely a few weeks back) I don't expect she will .. given what I've seen of her passive aggression behaviour so far. If anything I would expect denial next. We'll see .. |

With all due respect Equitist .. there is no REAL truce on the table when dealing with someone who has passive aggressive behaviour.
You will get nothing but denial .. and the behaviour will continue. And that is all we have here. Hence .. why I am glad I reported this situation to 3 Mods DESPITE her pathetic attempt to threaten and blackmail me. Ok .. my hubby is taking me out to lunch .. have a great afternoon everybody. |

And as I stated above .. the links for each site would be helpful too. Could someone also give me a heads up re the type of moderation that goes on in each of the four sites. I know I'm asking many questions .. but I honestly don't know what these sites are all about. Many thanks in advance. |

The BEST advice for dealing with trolls is to ignore them, full stop. Give other members a bit of credit, for they usually can recognise when people are posting biased, unreasonable nonsense, but even so, I think we can all empathise with feeling annoyed when we see our loved ones being unfairly besmirched. Now as I have not actually seen any of the postts in question, I will not take sides, and merely speak of the general principle of how inappropriate behaviour of the kind you describe, would be. If what you describe here is accurate, I request that you send me a PM linking to the posts that have given offense, and if they are as you describe them, I will contact the person involved, and seek and explanation for why they would assume such behaviour would be considered acceptable here. Until that time, I say again, try and ignore those whose intent is to bait you, and also be prepared to reassess your own posts, to be sure that you are not inviting aggressive responses because of the nature of your own posts. I know that I can be quite forthright in my criticisms of some opinions I see posted, and could not object to people replying equally forthrightly to my posts, if they disagreed with me, that is part of the parry and thrust of these types of forums, and that is a fact of life we need all accept. Those who are always polite, always open minded, and always tolerant, are truly rare, the rest of us can aspire to such admirable qualities, but few will ever attain them all, so in the meantime we need to make allowances for others, as we wish to have made for ourselves. |

Just Google. You'll meet the exact same dickhead, no matter where you go on the Internetz. |

Ah.. the lovely Lisa. A sad 49 year old woman from Hurstville who lives in a 2 bedroom housing commission unit. For years now, on various boards, she has been telling us all about her exotic lifestyle, her business acumen, even sharing with us her boyfriend's love poem.
Regrettably, Lisa is a female Walter Mitty who has no life other than the internet. She was caught out numerous times on Yahoo and left. Be careful about what you reveal to her. There are at least three people on this board who told Lisa a little too much about their private life style and lived to regret it PS - Lisa - have you got curtains for the unit yet or are the sheets still in place? |

Wrong. They will still follow you around the board in a stalking fashion in order to disrupt and derail the continuity of the discussions you're engaged in with others. They see it as their mission to ruin any discussion in which 'rightwing' views might be gaining some traction with the audience. This is Antifa in action. Shout down anyone, anywhere, whose conservative views might be making some sense to the audience. Giving these thread bandits free rein is definitely not the answer as they interpret this as indulgence and tacit approval. |
