Well, as if she was going to come out and say 'Well actually, he's a total c*&t and I think the country will go to hell if he gets in power'. :)

I mean, that would have been hilarious but I'm sure Labor probably would have lost pretty much every seat they were contesting as a result!

"I hope it was something Iike that in my dreadful Australian accent,"-Gillard 2011

She even hates our Australian accent, so the anti-Australian sentiment and apparent self-loathing has trickled down from the prince of darkness himself, Paul Keating.

Not very patriotic is she!

That's the shame, that's the disgrace Mr Speaker."

Paul Keating, Feb 27, 1992.

One of his most disgraceful (and completely incorrect) attacks on my nation.

How embarrassing it is for an Australian to read such an unjustified, uninformed and bitter accusation from the mouth of  an Australian Prime Minister.

There were 38 infantry battalions involved in the defence of Malaya—17 Indian, 13 British, six Australian and two Malayan, as well as three machine-gun battalions.

In addition, the battleships HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse and four destroyers were sent to Malaya just before the Japanese began their air assaults.

These were sent by a power almost alone in fighting the might of Germany in Europe, with Russia allied to Hitler and the United States neutral.

And far from abandoning Australia, Singapore was after Pearl Harbour the seat of the hastily established joint  American-British-Dutch-Australian Command, code name ABDACOM, the supreme command for all Allied forces in South East Asia led  by British General Sir Archibald Wavell.

Although short lived, ABDACOM was the first of the combined Allied commands established during the war.

These were not the acts of a power about to abandon Australia.

This was not the first time that Paul Keating had displayed his apparent ignorance of history.

He  had previously claimed  that the Australian constitution was drafted in and imposed by the British Foreign Office.

But in Parliament in 1992, as Prime Minister,  he launched a particularly  hostile and baseless attack on Great Britain.

Had this been directed at any other power, it would have become a major diplomatic incident.

Reflecting their maturity and sophistication, the British obviously decided not to react.

"On many occasions for many months, Federal Labor has made it crystal clear that we are committed to retaining all of the existing Private health Insurance rebates, including the 30 per cent general rebate and the 35 and 40 per cent rebates for older Australians.”

“The Liberals continue to try to scare people into thinking Labor will take away the rebates. This is absolutely untrue."

Nicola Roxon, 2007.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Treasurer Wayne Swan has admitted the government will break election promises in Tuesday's federal budget.

It is understood Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will break his promise before the last election not to touch the 30 per cent private health insurance rebate as part of the government's assault on middle-class welfare.

In a budget measure leaked this week, singles earning more than $74,000 and couples on over $150,000 a year will lose their rebate on a sliding scale.

And in a double blow, those who opt out of private health insurance will be hit with a higher Medicare levy surcharge.

The Age, May 2009.

++++++++++++++++++

And they wonder why they became the first one term Government in over 70 years to lose a majority after less than 3 years??

You deny the facts that I put.

The Japanese army was only half the number of the British Army - undeniable.
The Japs were half starved - undeniable - they had to march through jungle for days
with limited supplies of everything.
The POMs were well fed - well defended & had plenty of ammunition.
It was a total disgrace & even Churchill said that.

I'm not mucking around:

"Have a look at all the bag men in the Liberal Party, for God's sake. If you applied the sanitary test to those guys, I mean no minister would do any business in this country."

"The Leader of the Opposition hurls all sorts of abuse at me, and all through question time those pansies over there want retractions of the things we've said about them. They are a bunch of nobodies going nowhere."

"Mr Speaker can I have some protection from the clowns on the front bench ?"

"...for the dullard on the front bench opposite"

"Mr Deputy Speaker, am I to be continually abused by the Honorable Member for Mitchell and the drone beside him, the Honorable Member for Braddon ?"

"Where you all come aguster is, over here we think we're born to rule you. And let me tell you this, it's been ingrained in me from childhood, I think my mission in life is to run you."

"You were heard in silence, so some of you SCUMBAGS on the front bench should wait a minute until you hear the responses from me."

"What really amuses me and almost makes me spew..."

"They have no ideas, no integrity and no ability."

"Damn them for being the cheats they are."

"You are frauds."

"...votes for coalition members who have always been cheats, cheats, cheats and will always be cheats, cheats, cheats and will always defend cheats, cheats, cheats."

"Honorable Members opposite are a joke."

"They are irrelevant, useless and immoral."

"...they insist on being mugs, Mr Speaker, absolute mugs."

"I'm not running a seminar for dullards on the other side."

"Those opposite could not operate a tart shop"

"These intellectual hoboes"

"This rabble opposite"

"...for the benefit of the blockheads opposite"

"If the dummies opposite will just shut up"

"Shut up for a moment. If you ask questions and want to hear answers, shut up."

"How thick these people are"

"These dummies and dimwits"

"Talk about desperadoes"

"These are the absolute gutter tactics of a mindless, useless, idealistic, unprincipled Opposition."

"The Opposition is such a motley, dishonest crew"

"...the cowboys on this front bench"

"It is just a slight of hand by a dingy party"

"The Opposition crowd could not raffle a chook in a pub"

"We will be rejecting the opportunist claptrap coming from the Opposition."

"Honorable Members opposite squeal like stuck pigs"

"...small time punk stuff coming from a punk Opposition."

"The animals on the other side"

Mate every single country on this planet had a poor underclass.

It happens.

Even Switzerland, land of the untold wealth, I passed about 5 beggars the other week outside banks in Geneva which had marble receptions which would rival royal palaces.

That's oft-quoted Switzerland the economic powerhouse and social model for us all.

So let's just stop setting ourselves silly goals.

There will always be very rich people, there will be very poor people.
The rest of us are in between and we make do....

This  isn't a politicians quote, however it is political in nature, and demonstrates the manner in which political party's side with our mainstream media to distort the truth,  concentrating on anything negative, casting aside ethics in their mad desire to get rid of a given political candidate, in this instance, it's the Courier Mail attempting to destroy Hanson and her One Nation party.

The command to do this came from no lesser an identity than Lachlan Murdoch who was reported as telling his editors to
Quote:
"Kill the cow"
.

Prejudice and political lean aside, is it ethical of our media to side with political party's to destroy political candidates?

Or is it a case of all's fair in love, war , media and now politics?

If so...  then Gillards in for a rude awakening.

The press have been kind so far, but now that history is about to repeat itself, she might find she regrets having targeted others, they way they will her, as soon as the tables turn.

They have already started.

Empty promise or aspiration?

Yep.

And now many of them are entering middle-age, and
are STILL living in (comparative) poverty.

As are THEIR kids.

Nothing changes.

How is a goal a promise???

You're right cods, he is a disgusting man.

His comments about Britain and the WW2 situation showed he was unsuited to a position that required diplomacy.

Some people are just not from the right background to be leaders.

Quote from 2010 -

"I'll say again, I was elected to do a job as Prime Minister of Australia by the people of Australia. I was not elected by factions of the Australian Labor Party, though they may be seeking to do a job on me.

I intend to carry on doing that job and will be contesting the ballot tomorrow.

Thank you very much."

Bernard Manning, Bill Hicks, Dylan Moran, I could name a load more who I'd rank as top drawer comedians.

Robin Williams wouldn't get a mention.
