Depends if you can 'read and write' - the two things that help create Religion.
As for the Middle-East being the 'cradle' of Religion, then you could say - it helps those areas more so than Politics ever could.
Mind you, I think they need to clean up their act, like the Asians with their Cities (Citi-Zen)
