Title: The three Independents, what next?
Post by mellie on Dec 30th, 2010 at 3:38pm
Rob Oakeshott: the slime-ball and opportunists should purchase a used car dealership, given his political career is finished. He's burned his bridges well and truly..a career in federal or even local politics is off the table.

Tony Windsor: Seems to think so long as this minority government makes it to the next election, then this constitutes for a governments success and all will be forgiven at the polls.  lol ;D Wont he be in for a rude shock...

Bob Katter: Probably the better of the three, and the only one to have stuck by at least some of his convictions. Albeit a Labor man/unionist at heart.

I'd say Katter will fair the best of the three, just my opinion.

:)

Aren't you a little late in your analysis of the independents based entirely from the Abbott opinion peice in The Australian?  Pretty sure this debate has been done and dusted some months ago.

Just making sure they aren't forgotten, so I take it this is the general consensus then?

We haven't heard much about them lately, and was wondering what they had planned for the future...in a post-Gillard Australia.

well considering they don't read this forum I doubt you'll find out what they are looking at for their futures. Perhaps you should email them rather then repost old topics on forums?

As for the consensus, my previous post wasn't to signify consensus to your ridiculous notion. Just wanted to make the point that it was done and dusted.

Honestly, I could have sworn I saw Rob Oakeshott down on Parramatta Rd selling used cars this morning.... It looked just like him.

The slept-in crumpled suit and oily hair and skin were a dead give away....

You have made a point of alerting others to the apparent fact that you don't wish to discuss this topic believing it to be done and dusted, that's all, this and that this topic doesn't appear to interest you much.

Too bad.

This topic might be done and dusted for you, but I for one am keen to follow our three independents closely, especially in the lead up to July 1 2011 when the greens will hold the balance of power in the senate.

I think that Katter and Windsor are both safe as houses if they want to stay they will.

I have no idea about Oakshot, but had no idea about him before the election or what his chances would have been next time under any circumstances.

polls reported last monthe showed Windsor and Oakshott to be a popular as a turd in a swimming pool in their electorates. Both know they have zero chance of winning again. QLDers have a particular dislike for political traitors. MPS who supported the Joh for PM push in 86/87 which lost the 87 election for the coalition were 'rewarded' with 20%+ swings against them.  and the reason is obvious. the electorates were very strong anti-labor electorates. polls after the elction made it abundantly clear that the voters wanted a coalition govt. these two 'independants' already know their careers are finished and frankly, so they should. The same applies to labor MPS supporting libs when elected on the labor platform.

The best part of the next election will be watching these two TROUNCED.

Well if you are intent on following them, actually do so. Post some updates on their dealings; don't just repeat the same rubbish from 4 months ago.

If the voters in Windsor and Oakeshott's electorate wanted a coalition gov they would have have voted for one, THEY DID NOT DO THAT.
It is pure fantasy on the neo cons behalf to assume otherwise.

This is true, the three stupidos know that themselves that they won't be re-elected so they are enjoying their time as much as possible now.

In a perfect wold the parliament would be made up of nothing but independents. As it is the triumvirate are doing a reasonable job of keeping the bastards honest (to quote Don Chipp.) The fact that they have pissed off both Gillard and Abbot says that they are doing something right.

Exactly right. Maybe some of you Coalition cheerleaders having a sook  should look up the word INDEPENDENT in the dictionary.
