Does anyone know anything about the myth of Adams first wife Lilith?

Yeah I've heard it..... Eve was the 'first woman'.mk2 Apparently Lilith was created from 'clay' just like Adam...but wouldn't bow to him and left Eden and married Lucifer, also called Samael ( before he was expelled from Heaven) and became the mother of all demons.... |

Lilith (Asia) was created EQUAL with Adam (Namerica)
But Adam (Namerica) wanted to dominate Lilith (Asia) So God (Europe) created another who would serve 'down under' Adam (Namerica) and thus Eve (Oceania) was created from the 'rib' (Britain) of Adam (Namerica). Now Eve (Oceania) has to get to know what a sleaze bag Africa (Satan) was who encroached upon her like an Aboriginal Rainbow Serpent, so that she knew the difference between good and bad. > like the translation? ;) ;D In a nutshell though, Lilith was the 'Evil' female who did not sacrifice her 'equality' with Adam in the name of Religion and flew off into the arms of Satan the evil Musician and Singer of a Heavy Metal Band. Eve, who would not 'put out for sleazy Satan' after a gig, and thus knew how then to serve Adam in the name of Religion. >like the translation ;) ;D Lilith didn't want to be a 'stay at home housewife' for an anal Adam, who only worked a dead-end pleb 'job'. Sacrificing the possibility of birthing thousands of kids to Adam, she chose the adventure of living life to the fullest with a dude called Satan who had a 'Career', rather than a job and they travelled around the world living the high life together. >like the translation ;) ;D But really, Lilith is symbolic of a Woman who leaves her husband after years of abuse. Eve is the woman who learns what it means to be 'stalked'. As a man, my advice to you all is "once married" to your Eve, turn not Lilith into your "mistress", but find the magic that she offers you 'financially, creatively' or whatever else, besides the "sexual" ...just like Beatrice did for Dante. sincerely, Jason (formerly known as Angleire Scotwelsh, and retired from being a Wizard of Oz) |

LOL Jasignature, nice translation.

...and thats just the Northern Hemisphere version.
Down here, Lilith has five snot nosed kids while hubby Satan works a 'job' doing backyard and garage gigs for teenage birthdays and the odd Wiggle covers for the bubs. Adam and Eve, live the high life via Adam's Religious 'career'. Eve has never made 'Brown' fabric look so sexy! And they even fly Emirates with the odd Feral in business class. |

Then there is the version that the movie Evil Angel is very loosely based on.

Title: Re: Lilith Post by Jasignature on Sep 17th, 2010 at 2:01pm
Lilith is often portrayed or used as Vampire-like being.
LifeForce(1980) is similar in regards to the naked beauty moving as an entity from host to host. There are 8 different types of women in the world, Lilith and Eve are just two of them. One that accepts Religion of the Middle-East, and the other that does not (so what does she accept?). ...and who are the other 6 ? You could say that Lilith is symbolic of a Female that does not accept the 'domestic' internal, but seeks a more 'international' external existence, whereas Eve prefers the domestic internal. So Eve married a home-grown Middle-Eastern man, but Lilith 'slutted' out to some foreigner from Overseas. |

Yes, she is vampire like in the movie. I think the various versians of her myth, are far more interesting than she has been portrayed in the movie. Although I liked the movie. |

I think it's cool how the more embarrassing superstitions get removed through time as mythology develops into a religion intended for general consumption.
The book of Enoch is another example of that. I find it fascinating how you find fossils of previous religions in the Bible. Lilith appears only once - in Isaiah. |

Title: Re: Lilith Post by Deborahmac09 on Sep 18th, 2010 at 11:11am
The book of enoch is still included in the canon of the Ethiopean Orthadox Church.
I find it interesting and maybe disturbing that such a message as follows is left out. There is a church tradition, which says, that when John was evidently an old man in Ephesus, he had to be carried to the church in the arms of his disciples. At these meetings, he was accustomed to say no more than, "Little children, love one another!" After a time, the disciples wearied at always hearing the same words, asked, "Master, why do you always say this?" "It is the Lord's command," was his reply. "And if this alone be done, it is enough!" If we are suppose to take the message of the bible serriously, don't you think it is an important message? |

So much has been removed from all three Holy Books of Monotheism down through the ages and so much has been added in along the way as well - even for just reasons as 'translation' into a new/another language.
New Religions will spring in the New Worlds, based upon all Three to some degree. In Namerica, you have Marvel Comic Heroes and Villans upon the big screen - its their version of the Greek/Roman/Valhalla/etc Gods right there. Jewish Americans have a strong input on other Movies regarding 'story' and 'morals' etc. The Mormons, whose Religion is the best growing in Namerica, state: "We know our Religion is a peice of crap in comparison currently ...but its American made and that is what matters for us the most!" I kinda see the Mormon point. Australia (Oceania) will eventually have its own 'Religious' interpretation and translation to fit the 'Aussie' coloquiallism. Our Theme might be more 'water' based like some Paradise, while Namerica might be more 'aerial' for Heaven ?? Samerica might be snake-like Pantathian? I guess whatever shoe fits person. LILITH has been removed, re-arranged and even added into various Holy Scriptures over time. Her persona has gone from an Evil Raven haired, pale silvery skinned vampiress to something benevolent and watcher of children, etc. As so much, she is the 1st Woman - before Eve. Adam failed her and she flew to heaven ...but ironically partnered Satan - so go figure? Satan is God is Satan??? (now thats snakey enough to open anyone's eyes, eh? ;)) |

Maybe look at it this way?
God created Judaism and Christianity as equals. Judaism wanted superiority over Christianity. Christianity said "*FU*" thus God created Mohommedism to serve like Palestinians in poverty for the rich and powerful Israeli's. |

Title: Re: Lilith Post by Deborahmac09 on Sep 21st, 2010 at 1:24pm
No jasignature, man created all religions. Religion was created so man could pretend he could understand what god is.

Title: Re: Lilith Post by Jasignature on Sep 21st, 2010 at 7:50pm
...and long before 'Religion', they would climb the steps upon the Temple of Ur (Iraq) and give much thought to Sin (the Moon) and take much inspiration from.
Such devotion so Sin upon Ur resulted in the creating of Writing: Sumerian Cuniform. ...so there we have it Religion was created by Sin-Urs (Sinners) ;D ;D |

The moon is not part of a wooden carving or Prince Phillip. Both of these can be gods in their respective cultures. If Jasignature worships the moon, he's entitled to his religious beliefs. God is something personal - a personal belief. Nobody can take that away from you, and nobody should accuse you of pretending. I take all my religions very seriously. |

Agreed, but I am beyond pretending I know what exactly god is. God is the start of something and probably the end. Exactly what, I am not sure. I will not pretend otherwise. There is definitely something and I am brave enough to admit I don't know what it is. I have stood in what a lot say is his presence. There was definitely something. It took me along time to come to the realisation that I don't have to know what god is to believe that there is something. You are right, it is very personal. |

It would probably be a good subject for a new thread for people to talk about their personal experiences with God or spirituality. l guess most of us, except the least sensitive, experience 'something' but we don't all call it God. We have an enthusiastic moderator who could probably help by weeding out cynical over-critical posts. It's a very personal subject for many, and the last thing we want is derision. Some people might actually learn something from the process. I don't know. Maybe this board is too hostile for such a subject. You call it God. I don't call it anything other than life and a sense of wonder within me. Either way, it's pretty awesome. Which of us is right? We both are. |
