Title: No Infrastructure Post by riverina.jack on Aug 24th, 2010 at 10:16am
This is what would happen when the liberals don't built infrastructure
http://bigpondnews.com/articles/OddSpot/2010/08/24/Chinas_nine_day_traffic_jam_cleared_503779.html A traffic jam in China that lasted for nine days has finally been cleared. The jam on the Beijing-Tibet expressway stretched for more than 96 kilometres at one point. The hold-up started when trucks heading for the capital had to slow down for a stretch of road works, before one of them broke down causing log-jam. Local merchants capitalised on stranded drivers, selling them food and drinks at inflated prices. |

I thought the $900 cheque for the bogans to smoke, drink and gamble was Labors version of what they construe as infrastructure. Or was it the unusable undersized school canteens? ;D |

ah c'mon doesn't a $750,000 bbq shed count as infrastructure?
What about when they chuck in $900 for the bbq to put in it and even shout the insulation that makes it REALLY electric inside? |

I think Sydney has some serious infrastructure issues. Getting out of the CBD and onto the highway via Parramatta road at any time of day now takes forever.

It looks like the Greens policy of high speed rail should have been implemented many years ago instead of Howard wasting all those tens of billions propping up taxpayer funded federal pollie and public servants super.
Stop the taxpayer funded super and make pollies and public servants have the same super as everyone else..the money will go a long way to freeing up our major cities. Stop the billions going to Howard and Rudds baby making machines and middle class welfare! Feeding the Pigs at the trough does not come before infrastructure High Speed and Light Rail for Australia and its future ! :) |

I think the railways in Australia are reasonably good from my experience.
I drive everywhere most of the time but on the times I have taken the train in and around Melbourne it's pretty good. Better than in Britain and the US anyway. If you want the high speed rails of some of the continent, I'm afraid you have to pay for that in higher taxes and that isn't an acceptable option to people. |

High speed rail vs A320, choo choo loses almost every time. (except freight) Maglev Inland Eastern Freight Line; now that's something I'd support. |

Simplistic moronic cliche. That traffic jam is as a result of a government trying to lift an enormous population out of chronic poverty. Yes, they will make mistakes like introducing too many cars into the population before the infrastructure is ready to cope. It is a bit like Oz really. The governments over the past 20 years have had a policy of not building infrastructure. Absolutely daft. We should have had a railway line from the iron ore provinces of WA to the Queensland coal mines with a power station and iron smelters and steel works at each end. We should have huge irrigation and population centres in the north to take advantage of the gargantuan amounts of available water in that area. |

It'd make a lot of sense for export ports to be located all around the top end too. A healthy portion of the Mexican states have already started the march north. |
