Title: Dream Government

"Independent MP Rob Oakeshott has raised the idea of a mix-and-match government, where former Labor prime minister Kevin Rudd could serve as foreign minister under the Coalition leadership of Tony Abbott."

So I thought it would be interesting to see which pollies everyone thinks should take which Ministerial position.

Treasurer?

Finance Minister?

Foreign Minister?

Environment?

Defence?

And so on ...

Wayne Swan should be the minister for "cleaning toilets".

I've always thought that Peter Garrett should be in the Foreign Ministry. He should either be special envoy to the Antarctic or failing that, he should take a front line in Afghanistan explaining the concepts of Environmental Management to the Taliban, because they are possibly one of the few groups that know less about it than he does.

I like Rob Oakeshott's idea though. I've suggested it myself in the past.

Let's see:

Tony Abbott - PM
Wayne Swan - Treasurer  ;D (imagine the fireworks)
Joe Hocking - Defense
Julia Gillard - Education
Kevin Rudd - Foreign Affairs
Penny Wong - Environment
Malcolm Turnbull - Health
Bob Brown - Human Services

Treasurer? Lindsay Tanner I wish.  Never Swan, would take Hockey.

Finance Minister? Buy off an independent with it.

Foreign Minister?  Rudd, he is easily the most qualified by a country mile.

Environment?  Im not real sure about this.  I would nearly back a regional person like Sussan Ley.

Defence?  Julia, she has been on the defence for 8 weeks, shes a pro.

Maybe Kate Ellis needs a portfolio which involves more exposure.

More befitting the naive idealism of Plato's Republic ;D

"Imagine all our leaders,  living for us all.. Yoohoo ooo... you may say I'm a dreamer...."
