A year ago Turnbull was the opposition leader and Rudd's approval rating was 70%.  The possibility of Abbott as opposition leader was unthinkable. The Coalition returning to office at the next election was also unthinkable.

Now both Turnbull and Rudd are gone and Abbott is much closer to victory than anyone would have imagined a year ago. Win or lose, Abbott deserves recognition for coming this far in such a short time.

Even if the Coalition don't win government tomorrow,  Gillard can't say she won either.  Labor is polling 9% behind the Libs on the two party preferred vote,  so she would actually be a parasite - feeding off the Greens.

It's not about Abbott, it's about getting rid of an incompetent, hopeless Labor government that was never ready to govern in the first place, and botched it.
That's what we should be voting for, not on someone's looks.

It only will benefit the party politicians which win the election, but not the voters in general; because the PM gets paid more than the leader of the opposition, and so on with the ministers.
Australia is often portrayed as an egalitarian society, but it is not really a Democracy, more like a Plutocracy.
I,am rather cynical and will be glad when the election is over.
