[url]HOLY asylum seekers Boatman - Australia's border patrol forces would have a hotline to Tony Abbott under a Coalition Government to ask him if they're allowed to turn the boats back.

As another boatload of illegal immigrants arrived on the weekend - the 152nd since Labor won office - Mr Abbott explained how his pledge to turn back the boats would work.

"In the end it would be a prime ministerial decision," Mr Abbott said.

"It would be the Government's call based on advice of the commander on the spot."

Mr Abbott said the phonecall from sea would come to him - on the boatphone - and it would be his choice whether or not to turn a boat back if it was safe to do so.

Asked how he would measure the success or failure of his pledge to "stop the boats" Mr Abbott set himself a three-month deadline to see results.

"If we hadn't been able to dramatically arrest the rate of boat arrivals within three months I would be very, very disappointed," he said.

Mr Abbott's plan involved reopening the Pacific Solution processing centre for asylum seekers on Nauru.

He said one of his first acts as PM would be to start negotiating a deal to move asylum seekers to Nauru.

"I think reopening Nauru would send an immediate signal to the people smugglers and their customers or potential customers that the game is up," Mr Abbott said.

Mr Abbott will use his Boatman powers for good tomorrow, blitzing five marginal seats in western Sydney.

As Labor officially launches its election campaign in Brisbane, the Opposition Leader will target voter disenchantment with the Labor brand in Sydney's battler belt.

"Tomorrow I'll be doing a western Sydney blitz starting quite early in the morning and I'll be hoping to cover five marginal seats," he said.

Mr Abbott said Sydney's west had been dudded by state Labor and now the Rudd-Gillard Government.

"Nothing more graphically illustrates the rip-off that Labor have perpetrated than the Parramatta to Epping railway line," he said.

"This was first promised 12 years ago ... and now this train to nowhere has been embraced by federal Labor.

"The people of western Sydney are not mugs. They realise that this is school halls on wheels."

To be fair, this one isn't one of Gillards best, in fact its stupid, but I dont expect it will happen anyway.
Hopefully Labor will not be able to govern in their own right and will need GREEN support, then its game on for enviromental action.

In relation to the Getup stunt where they bid $16,000 on behalf of refugees to be taught surfing by Tony Abbott, to be fair, THAT was BEFORE the election was announced.
Others bid on a bowling game with Kevin Rudd, and others a "date" with Julia Gillard, and nobody has mentioned if those appointments have been completed before the election.
