Despite being a raging Keynesian, David Koch from Sunrise gave us a good write-up on his blog about getting to know the minor parties.

Liberal Democratic Party

The Liberal Democratic Party is all about minimizing the influence of government, and in stead promoting greater personal responsibility and greater personal freedom. They're ultra liberal and pro-choice.

What they believe in:

• Lower tax, raise the tac free threshold for low income earners.

• A Free market

• Deregulation and privatization of many services such as Australia Post, Medibank Private, and public transport

• Replacing welfare with a negative income tax for the working poor

• Unrestricted ownership of private property

• Free trade in goods, services, and culture

• Greater significance put on civil volunteerism, community mindedness.

• Restrict criminalisation of victimless crimes

• That government is unable to help environment. Care for environment comes as a local, personal and communal responsibility.

In a nutshell: The LDP is who old Henry David Thoreau would belong to. They’re pro-choice, as in letting people make their own decision without the government interfering.

Problem I see is that more and more people do horrible things and try to find somebody else responsible.

Best example drink driver after accident taking to court pub owner.
Or McDonalds being responsible for obesity.
Or teachers being responsible for low marks of some students.

Given ever more freedom, before getting better would be much worse.

With great freedom comes great responsibility. If you are given the freedom to eat whatever you want and you become obese, you bear that responsibility. You shouldn't be allowed to sue McDonald's. Also, other people shouldn't have to pay for your health care. That's why we support personal health savings accounts. Personal responsibility is a large part of our platform.

Yes and sorta.

On the issue of gay marriage, most libertarians are of the opinion that there should not even be such a thing as marriage licenses. Civil unions for all. Gender doesn't become an issue. But I personally think that failing that we should extend marriage licenses to gay couples too.

Sounds like an Australian version of the Tea Party.

What's with the whole free immigration for Japanese and Singaporeans into Australia policy?

It's purely restaurant based.

This is the only solution for marriage where the catholic church and the lgbt community can coexist

Much like the Libertardian Party in the USA only without the crazy religious ties, legalization of weed and more lip service to their ridiculous proposals that could never work in their delusional Utopian society of blatant human stupidity.

So I am curious, who is responsible for false advertising then? The advertiser or the consumer who got sucked in?

Further, how would they be held to account, i.e. made to take responsibility.

Look, bottom line, these are really "nice" ideas, but totally unrealistic in our irresponsible money equals success kind of world...

There is no such thing as a free-market  :D :D

The practicalities start with natural monopolies then enters shades of slippery grey until the circumspect argument of natural oligopoly could potentially raise it's head if I dare say so  :-? :-?

(flip, I've only had like 3 sips... oh wait a minute....)   ;D ;D

not quite sure I understand the meaning of the word 'circumspect' but it sounded good and I've always wanted to use it(...I'm sure I use it every 5 years or so but probably incorrectly) but all critique is welcome!!

:D :D

I agree with a lot of that. Although the enviroment needs to be tackled by governments Mr and Mrs nobody can not change major industry polluting our air and burning fossil fuels.
forgive my ignorance but what is negative income tax for the poor about? What about those without incomes at all?
