Title: Easy Part nearly over?
Post by perceptions_now on Aug 15th, 2010 at 12:16pm
The Election is only the Start

A week from today, it is likely that we will know the outcome of this election?

As I suggested, some time ago, I thought Labor may just hold on, but it could just as easily go to the Liberals.

It still appears likely that the outcome will be close, in fact, so close that it could result in a hung parliament?

That said, whoever is declared the "winner" following next weekends election, no matter how close or emphatic the result may be, that "win" will only end the easiest part of the election, that of being elected.

Once next weekends "winner" is declared, whoever is then in power will soon come to realise they have "won" the poisoned chalice and the "winner" will be "lucky" to see out their term!

The US & Global Economy (including OZ), is now in re-lapse and by year's end that will be apparent to almost all.

There are a variety of reasons for this Economic Re-lapse, Double Dip Recession, Depression, call it what you may, but the thing is, whichever political party "wins" next weekend, they will have won the election, that would have been better to lose.

In fact, it could be said on this ocassion that "whoever wins, actually loses"!

Following a line thru the major Economic influences, including Demographics, Energy decline, Debt & Climate Change, we have entered a long term decline in Economic outcomes, which will be reflected over time in outcomes, including -
1) Falling Share Prices, including another big drop shortly.
2) Rising Unemployment levels & falling Participation rates.
3) Declining Real Economic performances.
4) Rising Real Taxation levels.
5) Falling Real Estate Prices.

Whoever "wins" this election will soon have to battle a multi-headed Hydra -

But the real names on the Hydra's heads are -
Population Aging
Population Growth & Decline
Energy Decline
Debt (Rising Globally)
Climate Change
Human Nature

Whoever "wins" will have stark choices ahead, many old remedies will actually make things worse, because we are in the midst of a shift between two paradigms.

The future will be vastly different to the past, choose wisely!

We said this before the last election. Rudd, or should I say labor were lucky, they were able to buy time. The next person to take the helm will not have time, and money will be much harder to borrow.

There will be two outcomes. If the libs get in they wouldn't borrow because it would look like they are going down the same path as Rudd and co. If Gillard gets in, I think she would borrow and then get the printing presses running hot.

Either way, the infrastructure will not be fixed.

Either way again, the next three years won't be like the last. This is the calm before the storm. The budget back in the black any time soon? I doubt it.

1) No, it wont!
2) No, it won't!
3) Yes, it is!
4) No, it won't!

I always thought that 2007 was the "poisoned chalice" election - ESPECIALLY for Labor.

No 2007 was the year the Howard Liberal Government paid the 'bill' (well predicted) on WorkChoices....
