Title: I'm ashamed of the WEL Post by frenchyjen70 on Aug 7th, 2010 at 12:06pm
One of the founding members of the Women's Electoral Lobby (Wendy McCarthy) came out on the ABC this week and said that women must vote for Julia Gillard as she was female and you can't have a male PM being the leader for 51% of the population.
No mention of the policies or performances of either leader/party. I am so ashamed of the narrowminded sexist attitude of the WEL , sorry. |

I`m not ashamed of male peadophiles, wife bashers etc., because they don`t represent me in even the slightest degree.

Wendy McCarthy is not a current member of the WEL.

Can anyone else see the Irony and sexism even the name of this organisation displays?

The problem is, aussiefree2ride, a lot of gullible women fall for what they say. They have quite a lot of power for the relatively few women they represent.

That is just as bad as the Priests in Church telling the congregation to vote for the Christian - Abbott

vegitamite - I go to church, never have the proests told us who to vote for. In fact many of them would lean towards Labor.
It's not good to make things up. |

I doubt the Hillsong promoters would have any qualms about pushing their congregation to vote for the Coalition. They loved Howard and Costello preaching for profit at their auditorium. The Catholic Church also has been recently promised by Christopher Pyne that their funding would be continued at the healthy rate they enjoyed under the Coalition if they won. Incredible how these religious organisations earn hefty profits, pay no tax yet demand their schools are publicly funded. Quote:
It's easy to see the sexism that also exists outside this organistion in regard to having a female PM. No male leader would have to go through the crap that Gillard has endured since she became PM. |

Why say sorry?? And what sane and sensible woman would vote for a PM based on gender alone?? |

=================== Hi nichy, :) Im sorry but I wasnt making it up. I actually heard on ABC AM radio during last week they have been interviewing towns people i in QLD. Following a campaign trail. One lady come on who was a stout Labor supporter - until Gillard. She said that she is a strong Christian couldn't vote for Gillard and will vote for Abbott based on that. She also said her priest suggested that same thing in his last Sunday's sermon... If the ABC am has transcripts it will be there OR anyone else that listens would have heard the same.... |

No, that was Jules who said that. Quote:
And it wasn't the coalition who set the benchmark, that was Kev. Quote:

How would you know?? How would you actually know, besides having read it in the papers? Mantra, you are the kind of person, it seems to me, who will swell up with moral righteusness simply because you have read something in a newspaper or the internet. Christopher Pyne has reassured the Catholic Church of ongoing funding under the Coalition? Implying that the Catholic Chutch will throw its weight behind whoever propmises to maintain its funding? I bet you think the da Vinci Code is investigative journalism. |

You will be delighted to know that the ALP was even handed. They have ensured that even those they call 'cults' have enjoyed increased funding.
Quote:
And Jules looked after them with her BER Scam too. She threw $2,000,000 at the 'cult' to build a school hall and a library. And the school only had 16 pupils. Oh, and it already had a library though that didn't stop Jules building them another. |

I will take all the above comments into consideration, but who started this elite school porkbarrelling? How is any other party supposed to get out of it or reduce the funding to equal that of public schools?
The churches are a major influence on our governments. God help any leader who isn't a "Christian" - whatever that's supposed to mean - regular attendance at church and lip service to their preachers I assume. Quote:
I recall the screeching from the rabid right when the current government suggested removing the medicare safety net. All those in dire need of liposuction and cosmetic surgery would have been disadvantaged if that hadn't continued. Quote:
That's where most of us get our information - just look at the thousands of extracts from "journalists' opinions" on this board alone. They are taken as gospel by many and pronounced as a true account of the government's or opposition's policies or actions. So how can you say differently Soren? Do you know otherwise? |

As I recollect the 'screeching' it was the poor buggers who had to endure cataracts when Kev halved the Medicare rebate for this surgery. Those paying the price for the ALP were, as always, those least able to pay. |
