"Voters don't like to admit they were wrong and that is what they would be doing by ousting Labor after just one term."
...and that's the labor strategy for getting re-elected is it? Pathetic numpties. |

The funniest thing about that story? do you know liar boy?

Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 3:17pm
labor anger when they're in power is nowhere near as entertaining as when they're booted out. Rudd knows about that. Very exciting for him.
You know the old labor saying: Up like a skyrocket, down like a burnt stick. Just hope the economy doesn't come down with them. |

Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by Thy.Equitist on Jun 25th, 2010 at 3:22pm As I indicated elsewhere, the Libs have made a HUGE mistake, in attacking the Labs for the manner in which they outsted Rudd... They've now dug themselves a huge hole - cos they will look like even bigger fools and hypocrites if/when they do as they MUST do, if they want to be in with a chance to defeat the Gillard Govt... They MUST do the same (or worse) to Abbott, in order to secure a semblance of a chance of winning the next election... Problem is, Abbott's pathetic little speech in QT was a cunning stunt - a self-serving plea (and perhaps even a thinly-veiled threat of grave consequences)... Perhaps he correctly senses that there are internal moves afoot against him...!? At the time of his surprise-ascension, I pointed out that the nutjob Abbott is mentally ill (bi-polar) - and that he ought never have been installed as a temporary stand-in for Joe Jockstrap... Minchin's Mad Marionette wasn't in on the party joke - he doesn't think he's a puppet and he's delusional enough to really believe that he's leadership material - especially since he's been heralded as the party's saviour to date... I'm not sure that he will take advice on bad polling - rather, despite some self-doubt creeping in, he will probably keep the faith in himself and manically try to run with his heavy burden, whilst praying for a miracle on election day... Will the Libs kick into self-preservation mode and sacrifice the Abbott bigot before the election - or wait for him to fall apart in shameful electoral defeat!? Either way, don't shoot the messenger - for his blood won't be on my hands... To borrow from religion again: as they sow, so shall they reap! |

this new labor mob are a bunch of cunning stunts as well.
I wouldn't bet on Abbott not being there at the next election - you wish. |

Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by sprintcyclist on Jun 25th, 2010 at 3:32pm thy - i pretty much agree with that article. Rudd was a gonner. julie is going to be MUCH harder to beat. if for no other reason than she is a woman. the libs may have to install bishop or another woman after the election. women will vote for gillard, some men will cause she is the first woman PM. same as obama, he got LOTS of votes cause he is black. |
|
Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 3:38pm
there'll be a lot more men who won't vote for labor now, I predict. You better hope the women don't start voting libs as well. Then there'll be an historic landslide against labor.
Gillard will have to perform, not just have a nice different colour hairdo everyday. There are still enough Australians not "re-programed" by labor propaganda at this stage not to fall for that one. But you keep waiting, the labor party might be able to dumb down the entire population give it another fifty years or so. Hmmm, except for that ageing population, eh. Gee where can we import more left-wing voters from? |
|
Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 3:46pm
anyway, middle ground Australians know how to vote now - make sure it's a hung parliament by voting the opposite side into a majority into the senate so labor can't stuff things up to much. Then hope for a double dissolution.
|
|
Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by Thy.Equitist on Jun 25th, 2010 at 3:53pm I am no Labor voter - but I make no secret, that I greatly admire Gillard - and not just because she's a successful woman... Sure, she's gotta be special, to have risen above the multi-storey steel-reinforced glass ceilings of the ol' boy pollies - and she rivals the best parliamentary performers, with her sharp wit and steely resolve - but she is also a person of great integrity, altruism and humanity... Since she's been compared with Obama - I'll draw my own comparison with her: they both want to make a positive mark on this world, by breaking down self-serving greed and bigotry, to leave stable and sustainable socio-economic and environmental legacies... Unfortunately, there are many people who would undermine and cut each of them down, out of their own paranoid prejudicial fears and bigotry alone... |
|
Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 3:58pm
they need to perform not just mouthe smart rhetoric. So far it's rhetoric. Nothing's changed.
Today we hear they are "digging deep", back to the grindstone stuff. I hope that means they aren't going to bring in more new taxes to fund their out of control deficits. |
|
Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 4:03pm
gee thank goodness those massive deficits saved us from the GFC; we would have been in real strife, mate, if we had've had that massive surplus still in the bank.
Can't have that, it would look like we're not doing anything. |

Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by Thy.Equitist on Jun 25th, 2010 at 4:07pm Forget what the Labs do, now the Libs have to spit out their sour lemons - and try to run an election campaign without letting attack-dogs Abbott & Co out of the kennels to keep up their great big pisses on everything... No chance - unless you ditch him, Abbott will be God's Gift to Gillard - the gift that keeps on giving... |
|
Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 4:09pm
You saying to ditch Abbott is a case he doth protest too much. He'll be there. But if he's not, who's the liberal deputy again?
Middle ground Australia decides for Australia, boy, not you people. What did labor save us from, skip? They didn't. |

Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 4:15pm
labor spent $20 billion in the first year of office, the entire national savings, then they spent multiples of that on feel-good, botched polices which were supposed to make them look good. Don't try and get out of it now. That's what people know; and if labor do get back in, the inflation will hit big time while they are in office, which will serve them right, because they caused it.

Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by skippy. on Jun 25th, 2010 at 4:18pm
Have you got that proof about the Australian recession you say we are in yet?
|
|
Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 4:22pm
labor broke the Treasury, runs up historic, unprecedented deficits, then wants to tax the community even more to pay for their stuff ups. Typical. They do it every single time. Don't vote for them.
You better hope the mining industry doesn't make them back down, because if they do, labor will be after YOU for more money - and/or they'll ride on the back of inflation to devalue their shocking overspends. |

Excellent use of stats, Synergyshift, thanks for that.
I wonder if the GFC and European meltdown might have something to do with the current/future state of affairs. Just thinking out loud, you know. |

you like my left-wing style use of stats? Thanks for that.
Yes the GFC and American and European meltdown has a lot to do with it, but hey, the labor party reckons they fixed it for us here. You know, they sent us a cheque to buy something with - that must have been it eh. |

Title: Re: Abbott: God's Gift to Gillard Post by synergyshift on Jun 25th, 2010 at 4:57pm

If the heat is too much for Gillard she isn't up to it.
Why should she get special treatment, she wants to be prime minister, she needs to cut it. Australians don't want a wimp for a prime minister, and they won't take kindly to some anti-male feminista either - a lot of women don't like that sort of rubbish, and men definitely do not. As Gillard said to Abbott yesterday, in her words: "game on". Ok then, she needs to be able take the same stuff. I have no pity for her. She did in the previous prime minister so she could step up to the wicket. Better be able to take the fast bowling. |

Quad skaters find it difficult to skate on ice - habitual style has too much power through the legs - and I was never much good at stopping on dry floors... Funny thing too, is that it's still easier to skate backwards after all these years - others have remarked about this phenomenon (I assure you it's nothing to do with being a lefty)... Anyways, clock tells me No.2 son has just finished his last dance class - so I'll be off...again... Caio! PS With the use of ROFPMSL, I hope I haven't double-jinxed myself!! |

The 'gift' that keeps on giving...
Abbott, lie number 196# Grasping victory, again Mr Abbott has also changed his story about words he used to his coalition colleagues earlier this week. A Coalition spokesman told the media that Mr Abbott said: "Victory is within our grasp. We are within reach of a famous victory", but later that day Mr Abbott denied he had used that phrase. Tonight he was asked by Kerry O'Brien whether he used those words. "Yeah, yeah. But that wasn't all I said. And the fact of the matter is no election is unwinnable. No election is unlosable," he said. "There is no doubt we must have been within reach of a famous victory, otherwise the Labor Party would not have dumped their leader in a fit of panic about its prospects," he said. On an earlier 7:30 Report interview, Mr Abbott said that he sometimes says things in the heat of the moment that are not absolutely correct, but the public can fully rely on his carefully scripted and considered remarks. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/25/2937612.htm |

TONY Abbott saved us from the flawed ETS and he has now saved Australia from Kevin Rudd. To be able to get the prime minister's scalp from opposition is a testament to brilliant strategy and leadership. Kevin Rudd was tested and found wanting thanks to the actions of the Opposition Leader.
It Turnbull was still the opposition Leader, Rudd would still be PM. It was Tone (not the carrot-top Jezabel) who KOed Kevvie. Good one. |
