Reverse racism. What is it and are you a victim of it?

Have you been sacked or refused a job because you're an Anglo Saxon Australian?

While other countries are busy branding Australians as racial bigots - the truth might be far more frightening.

For example, what does the law say about an employer who hires only Indian or Chinese workers?

This year over 35,000 people who came to Australia on temporary 457 Visas will be granted permanent skilled visas to stay in the country.

For years as a nation we've been battling, and rightly so, to stop the mistreatment of minorities, but some are now saying we've gone too far.

Craig Whitney was working at a meatworks in Ipswich - he says his employers started stripping shifts from white workers in favour of cheap foreign labourers less likely to complain that they're paid less to work more.

"It felt like a crime to be White Caucasian, they definitely wanted to get rid of me," Craig said.

"It was planned all along, to get rid of the Aussies because, I believe, the Australians were too expensive to hire and if they get the cheaper labour in they cut costs."

"One to two days of work were all us Aussies were on, where the Chinese or foreigners were on forty hours a week guaranteed."

Craig wants it known he's not racist. In fact, he and his Thai wife Rattiya now run a Thai restaurant in Brisbane.

Andrew Ferguson is from the 120,000 member strong Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union. His CFMEU says that because new migrants speak little English, and they've come from third world countries, they have no idea about award rates and penalties. In other words, they won't complain when they're being shafted - most are not union members.

"There is workers now complaining about wage cuts, not having work, and a threat to living standards. We can see it is only going to get worse in future years," Andrew said.

"Without a doubt there is reverse racism. There is employers that get gangs of workers from a particular language group, use them as cheap labour, exploit them and undermine labour standards."

Mr Ferguson points says its not just taking place in factories. He says it's taking place at the carwash, the supermarket and the takeaway.

Darrin Hodges represents the Australian Protectionist Party which claims the Australian way of life is under threat. The party is campaigning for a 'one in one out' immigration policy. And to protect the jobs of Australian workers.

"Reverse racism can be called positive discrimination or affirmative action and it's basically the idea that there's a sense of political disenfranchisement for the majority... who, even though they're like a majority, politically they're like a minority," Darrin said.

"If it's racist for the protectionist party to advocate on behalf of their identity, then groups like the Lebanese Muslim Association must also be racist, they're advocating on behalf of Lebanese Muslims."

"It would not be a problem if the same standards were applied to a business that wanted to employ solely white Australians."

National race discrimination Commissioner Graeme Innes maintains the union movement and Mr Hodges are compromised by self serving interests. He's calling for a new multicultural policy to stamp out entrenched workplace racism and celebrate diversity.

Innes says we should get a start on making new arrivals feel welcome, valued and safe.

"Newly arriving immigrants in Australia have not been welcomed and celebrated over many, many years," Graeme said.

"People in minorities in Australia, where the persistent pockets of racism occur, are not getting a fair go."

"Indian students are not getting a fair go. The 20 per cent of people who experience race hate talk are not getting a fair go and that's why I say racism is un-Australian."

So, are the views of Darrin Hodges racist?

"No.I don't hate anyone. I'm simply here as part of the protectionist party to advocate on behalf of the majority of Australians and the majority of Australians are people like me, in appearance... So if that's racist them maybe I'm racist," Darrin said.

"We need to dispense with this idea of multiculturalism. We need to go back to the idea of assimilation where we encourage people to become a part of the general Australian society instead of saying to them, look there's an ethnic enclave that's populated by your group, you go and live there and you can be outside of the Australian mainstream society."

Greame Innis, when did you have to vie for jobs or housing with immigrants.

Two years ago in Melbourne, taxi drivers protesting. Seems very, what's the word?  homogenious, no?  
Where is the multicultural society when you need it?
Surely they were not all hired because of their superior driving skills and knowledge of the city. It certainly could not have been the personal grooming.

Why is this fair-go nonsense always leveled at the majority white population? Why can't we expect these immigrants to give us a fair-go and be able to speak English before they even show up here?

I am sick and tired to the teeth of this 'fair go' cliche. It's just one of those lines used to brand every attitude or opinion that dissents from the status quo on immigration as 'un-Australian' and therefore make it unviable as a contention. We do not have any obligation whatsoever to give the rest of the world a 'fair go'. The rest of the world has no obligation to give us a fair go; it doesn't give us a fair go, as a matter of fact, because it understands that doing so is the first step towards national suicide.

The Immigrants have moved here, they should be the ones doing the adjusting, what, they had no time to learn english while they waited for a visa. Im sure if someone from the western world had to move to a foreign country, they would learn all they could about it and study the language but thats just us ignorant westerners doing the right thing. Would we complain about diversity and how much support they gave us, I dont think so.

Ah, but whitey owes them, don't you know. That's the beauty of it for many tinted people - when things are not working back home, that's still whitey's fault. The failings of tinted people si due to whitey exporting/imposing his ways:  colonialism, capitalism, democracy.

When you put it that way, Colonialism and Capitalism, aint the greatest things in the world. But there is worse, Communism and Islam, even Fascists had their good points.

To us it may look like corruption but DFAT is just speaking their cultural lingo. Bit of bakhshish, bit of bowing and scraping, it's all culturally sensitive. And if they get swayed by such trinkets, all the better. Throw in a dozen pocket mirrors and some gold plated combs, I heard someone saying.

Doesn't look like reverse racism to me. The employers are exploiting the immigrants ignorance of penalties/rewards. The guy who was fired wasn't fired because he was white, he was fired because of finance cuts. If you educate these immigrants and inform that they are intentionally being under-payed, they'd also get fired if they demanded better salary.

Young black males “over-feminized”

I hate to say this, but there is a very good article in The G***d**n, which you can see online here.http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/mar/15/black-boys-too-feminised-fathers It’s by Dr Tony Sewell, a sociologist who runs charities for young black kids, and who is almost always a fount of plain speaking and common sense. He suggests that the educational under-achievement of black males is less a consequence of racism than because an astonishing proportion of them emanate from one parent families and all too rarely have a male role model at home. As a result they become “over-feminized”. Almost 60 per cent of black kids live in single parent households (almost always with mum, not dad), compared to 22 per cent for white kids.

I am not sure about the “over-feminized” line; it seems to be over-intellectualising the problem and implies some sort of blame should attach to the mums, which is stretching it a bit. But his central point is surely right; the boys, lacking a dad at home begin instead to identify with strong, charismatic badduns at school, and go off the rails - to put it crudely.

Sewell concludes with this statement: “…….meanwhile, the black family continues to disintegrate and no-one dares say a word.”

Ha, well I wonder why that might be. I’ve written about the educational under-achievement of young black males before, making pretty much the same argument as Dr Sewell, and been threatened with prosecution, bollocked by the PCC, subjected to a tirade of vituperation (largely from white libtards), demands for apologies. And it does not matter how mildly you might express yourself (not always a forte of mine, I admit) - merely to advance the argument is racist, per se.

It helps with the white libtards if a black person, such as Dr Sewell, is saying it, mind. Although my guess is that by recompense Sewell probably gets in the neck from within his own community. He got a bit of a kicking for having suggested last year that the deification of Mary Seacole might be a bit daft.

But that last line: “…no-one dares say a word.” That’ll be institutional anti-racism at work, Tony, the twin brother of racism and no less corrupting than racism, either.

It comes down to personal requirements. Women generally require less meat than men. It's just genetics.
If she was pregnant, she'd be crying for a man to bring home the bacon for her, and for him to cuddle her and tell her that her ass looks great afterwards.

I think reverse racism does exist in the workplace. We had one particular enthic group where I worked. They were encouraged to spy and report on the anglo Australians. They were the first to be made permanent whereas the aussies would remain casual, get blamed for everything and dissapear one day (ie sacked). One from this group made two major stuff ups with a sickie in between for his birthday and was made permanent the next week!  

I think it was behind my retrenchment too. There where two of us doing a job (same wage, same length of sevice). I had nearly twice the output of the other (Asian) guy, every mistake could be traced back to him and he would routinely hold up the production process. Yet all their problems where blamed on me and my shift and I was the one who got retrenched.
