Nothing to do with the topic, but I read this once, and loved it, so thought I would share.

Quote:
A lecture about English

A linguistics professor was lecturing to his English class one day.
"In English," he said, "A double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However, there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative."

A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah, right."

We say that the hour of death cannot be forecast, but when we say this we imagine that hour as placed in an obscure and distant future. It never occurs to us that it has any connection with the day already begun or that death could arrive this same afternoon, this afternoon which is so certain and which has every hour filled in advance.

Homer: Books are useless! I only ever read one book, “To Kill A Mockingbird,” and it gave me absolutely no insight on how to kill mockingbirds! Sure it taught me not to judge a man by the color of his skin…but what good does *that* do me?

Well it may be just a funny quote, so I will provide you with what I wrote on my mirror.

Faith is the belief that truth exists without the expectation of ever knowing it... Rendering the sense of certainty an art form.

Faith... Conviction, therefore, is the art of being certain.

While, endearing in its pathos, the function of god's invention is evidence of our infantile need to be cleaved to a sentient, paternal being who is a medium through whom we can receive, or have by birthright bequeathed, the ultimate, unmitigated truth - to be liberated from the ubiquity of doubt.
