You can even twist the definitions so that a non-religion becomes a religion, especially when you have an unnatural fixation on religion yourself. That could be very lucrative talent in life, especially if you can magically turn 'no food' into food.   Can you do tricks with loaves and fishes? It might come with the territory for all I know.

I didn't miss out.

I too, have 'lived a life', where i did whatever i wanted to [to a point!].

I was a wilful person in my youth, but i justified it, i felt that i had to be [to survive!].

I never did anything really, really wicked [...i hope],   ....but i was a selfish, thoughtless, person.

And with reflection, i looked at myself.

Maybe its just that, at a particular point, my conscience got louder?

Could God be our conscience ?  [Acts 17:27]

Does that idea 'fly' for anyone?

But also, i have had a few strange challenging dreams / visions, as well.
....in one vision i was taken to a place of [my?] judgement. Where an angel standing beside me explained some of what was unfolding before us [in the vision]. Yet i confess, that i still didn't comprehend the significance of what was unfolding in the vision [...until a day or two later]. I'm obviously 'thick', a slow learner!

But i try to 'abstain' now, because i've come to that place, where i can see, that there is merit,
in being good, for goodness sake.       :)
