Title: child's skull
Post by tallowood on Jul 9th, 2009 at 10:43am
700yo child's skull washes up in Sydney

Quote:
The child's skull was found on September 12 last year at the Basin, north of Mona Vale Beach.

Investigators enlisted the help of anthropologists at New Zealand's University of Waikato, who used radiocarbon dating to conclude the skull was about 700 years old.

The experts concluded the skull belonged to a child between four and six years old, who was not Indigenous.

What non Indigenous six years old child was doing on the Australian beach 700 years ago?

Probably an Asian,or a Pacific islander, could have floated here.
Or maybe the carbon dating is wrong and it belongs to one of Noah's grand kids, what do you reckon ?

I reckon it was placed there not a long time ago as it looks to be in too good condition though it is still may be a 13 century girl's skull. Probably would worth a grand or two so a collector try to attract an attention to rise the price.

Here is a good article about what to look for when buying a Real Human Skulls on ebay

Quote:
This guide is intended to help educate potential buyers and to illuminate some of the more misleading statements that are typically made in listings for skulls and skeletons. eBay allows the sale of "skulls and skeletons that are used for medical purposes."  In practice, you can find skulls in a wide variety of conditions, from professionally-prepared specimens to "found" skulls. Listing and buying skulls is a privilege here on eBay, not a right. If you want to buy responsibly, and if you want to avoid being taken advantage of by sellers who know that most people have never studied human anatomy, then this guide is for you.
