Title: Victorian union boss helps support uni students
Post by sprintcyclist on Apr 9th, 2009 at 1:17pm

Then one of his own kind calls for him to resign !!!!!!!
Cops called in to ensuing ruckus.

Must be ALP in govt ........

Quote:
A SECOND influential ALP figure has been accused of spending union money on escorts, with enemies of Victorian union boss Jeff Jackson releasing bank statements showing payments to the same Sydney brothel where federal MP Craig Thomson's credit card was allegedly used.

Police were called to a union meeting in Melbourne last night as it descended into yelling and brawling between rival camps.

The meeting was called by Mr Jackson to reassert his control on the union's management committee. Mr Jackson, a prominent figure in the Victorian ALP, dismissed the claims against him as a politically motivated "dirty tricks campaign" and denied any misuse of union funds.

As secretary of the Health Services Union's number 1 branch in Victoria, Mr Jackson has been embroiled in a bitter power struggle with branch president Pauline Fegan.

Ms Fegan last night called on him to resign over the emergence of credit card statements showing the payments to 'Keywed Pty Ltd" - which takes money for clients of the Sydney Outcalls escort agency.

"It's a union-issued credit card and it has been issued to Jeff Jackson," Ms Fegan said. "On the face of it, it appears the union credit card has been used for escort agencies," she said. "He should have resigned ages ago, that's the reality."

The factional dispute is at the centre of the claims of misuse of union credit cards for prostitutes and election campaign funds that threaten the career of Mr Thomson and could damage other senior party figures.

Yep, chuck them out, and make them pay back every cent they misused.

I am disgusted at the lack of morals of our officials in this modern world.

Labor, or Liberal, they are a morally bankrupt lot are they not?

I hope we don't see these types of scandals coming from our current greens, or independents.

What do you mean by "modern world"?
It's always been this way hasn't it?
Do as we say and not as we do has always been the order of the day.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the public diversions continue.
The North Melbourne footy club gets dragged over the coals for a silly chicken sex video involving a raw and a rubber chicken because it's disrespectful to women.
Mind you, it's a political outcry and not a public outcry. Not many people really care what a bunch of footy players do with their spare time? Most probably hope they'll have a bit of fun.

Fair points ammad, I guess you are right, about corruption not being modern, it is funny how so many succumb to the lure of greed.

I also agree with you about the chicken stunt, what a hullaballoo over nothing.
Everybody in the media, seemed to want to be more politically correct than the next guy, but ordinary people just laughed at it.

HOW!!(Not how?)

Yes indeed, we do vote for 'em, and precious little choice we usually have, bloody minded ideologues on all sides, with the few honest men cast to the shadows and told not to rock the boat.

Mind you, I don't know if the union guy was voted in, or appointed, as I have only ever been a supporter of the 'principle' of unionism, and found the practice sadly inferior to the ideal, so never follow their shenanigans too closely.

mozzaok - that's the sad part about the ALP or every union.

If they geniunely follow the principle of being "for" the working person, I'ld imagine they would be voted in ALL the time.

Maybe, unionism is more a theory, not really practical ???
