If you missed 4corners on the ABC tonight I suggest you try really hard to watch the repeat.
http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/ At the very least read this summary... http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/content/2008/s2496178.htm |

I would be interested to hear which side Abu supports in this conflict.

This will be a real eye opener for people unaware of what is happening there. Unfortunately it backs up what I already was aware of and more as I was not aware of all the problems in Islamabad and Karachi.

I think the claims are over inflated, probably to make the U.S give them more aid and assistance.

I don't side with either, as neither of them represent what I believe in. Must I side with one? |

It was an independent ABC report... ::)
Did you actually watch it Aboo? |

Talking about the situation in general, not the objectivity of the ABC report.
Most of their knowledge of the situation was fairly second hand. Either way, the Talibaan has been operating in Pakistan since their inception way back in the 1990's, and they even declared their own semi-autonomous state in Waziristan quite a long time ago... the agreement in Swat is certainly more proof of the recognition of the Pakistani government that they share their country with the Talibaan, but I really don't think there's anything that new going on. They simply want more funding to fight it, so they're playing up how much of a threat it is. The same threat has existed for years. |

Good grief... it wasn't a Telethon for Pakistan, it was an ABC 4Corners report. They happen to be amongst the most accurate and objective on TV.
You didn't watch it did you? Why cant you just admit you didn't watch it. Oh right... that would mean you've been talking out of your other orifice again. |

FD, Neither. These ppl [in Pakistan] are not real muslims. The only real muslims on the planet, are abu, and his small clique', living here in Australia. abu and co, are being rightly guided by Allah, in their hope to proselytise all Australia, to their perfect religion, ....pure ISLAM. /sarc off |

Abu - from your ambivilent deflective responses, I must assume you are ok with the taliban taking over.
Why would you ever NOT be ok with islamics ? |

Never, ever. Coz, to do so [to criticise another 'muslim'] is verboten within ISLAM. Criticism of ISLAM, or other 'muslims, would be grounds for his brothers to suggest that he was an apostate, or a, ....oooh, aaaaar, a 'renegade'. And we all know what Allah's the punishment is, for 'renegades' within ISLAM. Koran, "Truly, if the Hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease, and those who stir up sedition in the City, desist not, We shall certainly stir thee up against them: Then will they not be able to stay in it as thy neighbours for any length of time: They shall have a curse on them: whenever they are found, they shall be seized and slain (without mercy)." http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/033.qmt.html#033.060 v. 60, 61 |

You too Aboo. Just remember when you watch this the amount of times you've been told these sort of people are JUST a minority. Then think about the size of this minority and what they can do. |

Yes, you might remember the other thread where I talked about Swat? Swat and Waziristan now under Taliban control. That's a lot of country. Also, many in the Pakistani military and government are either ambivalent towards the Taliban or supportive of them. Musharref hated them, but he's gone now. The ISI has close links with the Taliban. The Pakistani military has been known to provide fire support for the Taliban, and also, to perform fake operations for the benefit of US drones - like firing artillery into empty buildings, and say to the Americans - look we were clearing out Taliban! From time to time they grab low level people, kill a few here and there, but its an act to try to get as much money as they can from America. Pakistan could easily flip into a sharia Taliban hell. |
