I think it is just that when people subjugate their own ideals, for those imposed by a totalitarian regimen, like Islam, then they really lose a lot of perspective of what they think their reality is.

He could have come out with a far more positive pro life message about the values of moderation and sobriety, and the benefits of responsible sexuality, which would have been acceptable to all decent people, but in Islam's insane clamouring desire to be seen as superior, he made it adversarial, and made more people wonder, just how wacked out are these muslim extremists.

Also, the hypocrisy about sobriety, and moral superiority, when the golden crescent is pumping out most of the world's heroin, all grown and sold by good muslims, which funds organised crime syndicates whose morals, allow them to supply the weapons the terrorists want, as well as people smuggling, and prostitution rings, but if it is for the jihad, then it is OK, if it is private citizens, following their personal moral code, of having a drink, or sex, then they must be vilified.

What I remember is Lestat bringing a truckload of evidence to show the CIA had run drugs for weapons, but absolutely NO evidence whatsoever that the Talibaan have had anything to do with opium, since they began stamping it out late last century. All we saw were baseless accusations and claims "Well they've got weapons,  so they must be!!".
