Title: Pornography
Post by oceanZ on Jan 17th, 2009 at 4:22pm

Its all over the net these days. Kids have access to it..everyone does. We cant let our kids surf the net for fear they will come across PORN!!!!

Its in most movies in some form altho' in his medium it is what I would term "soft porn"..its even in Playstation games for Gods sake. We can,if we want download it onto our cell phones and their are kids at my sons school who share porn around this way..so even tho my son doesnt take a phone to school..I cant prevent him from seeing things I deem unsuitable for his age group.

When considering all the sexual assaults on women and children we don't have to look far for reasons .Netstalkers sit online looking at porn and stalking children at the same time. The Northern Territory invasion by the Howard Govt made much of the role Pornography played in the abuse of children.

It seems to have such a negative impact .. and children are increasingly exposed to it even thru mediums that should be safe..ie: games. Why?

Governments are supposed to be regulating this and keeping society safe..its not working.

Some studies claim that it is more a release of sexual tension and therefore lessens the need for real contact hence crimes such as rape etc.

Thats an interesting finding Beo...and some might say  also that it might encourage sexual assaults..

Why would the Lib Govt seek to ban the use of porn in communities for instance..?

If it was taken to the vote most women would have pornography banned outright - but there's a big market in it for males.

Yes Oceanz I'm afraid young boys do share this stuff around.  Your son probably wouldn't tell you what he's seen and some of it's pretty nasty and very, very strange.

We are powerless to do anything about it - but the attitude today, particularly of young girls - is blase too.  They don't even blink at this stuff because they've seen so much and just take it for granted.

The problem with technology is that people can make big money from child pornography or any pornography for that matter.  Whereas years ago it used to be under the counter stuff and well hidden from the average person.  Now we all have to deal with it and exploitation is far more common.

I don't find naked women very nasty and very very strange.
Most kids don't see it even though they have access to the Net these days.
If most men weren't interested in it it'd be unnatural and then most men wouldn't be interested in women and that would surely solve the population.
I know women who like it too.  And no I didn't corrupt them.

Yeah - I bet.   ;D

Actually some of the stuff is very strange - helpless girl gets kidnapped by Sumo wrestler,  lesbian home invaded by sex starved bandits etc.

The titles alone aren't healthy.

I don't think you can blame porn for rape.

Rape is more unrestrained sexual urges, a violent predisposition and/or a situation of lawlessness.

If you have a sex life, porn will ruin it.

I don't think that's right.  Of course kids get to see it on the net.  Even as Oceanz said they download it to their phones - but it's easy to access and young boys have always been curious and that's an understatement.  As if they wouldn't go to porn sites!

I think most of the blokes on this forum are straight Aviatrix - not that it matters if anyone is gay.  But you'd be quite surprised at the ages, some of them are very young, some in your age group and a few middle aged, although there is an 81 year old apparently - who has the energy of a teenager.

So it's a pretty mixed group here.

Mantra, I'd really appreciate a list of names and their respective ages in chronological order so I can mock people more effectively.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure you would - but would that be a good idea?  At the moment there are only a few who annoy you - but FD & Amadd from what I've guessed aren't that much older than you, but seriously they are nice people and both straight.  Easel as she said in an earlier thread is younger than you - so you're not dealing with 60 year old gays here.

You called Easel a "she".  Are you saying Easel is transexual?  :o

I will stick with my generalisation about this forum being full of gay men for a number of reasons:

1)  stereotyping is rife and acceptable in here;

2) a person is defined by their actions and reactions in this case, and not by their words; and

3) the men in here are more sensitive than my grandmother ever was, bless her cotton socks,

I have already accommodated for easel's age in the thread where I mentioned the Mattel plane and the copter hat.

You missed Easel's post above mine.

I agree with you about the stereotyping - but you will find that anywhere - most people roam with a pack - it's safer.

If there is sensitivity here - personally I think it's a good thing.  But you yourself were sensitive originally to Easel, Amadd's & FD's remarks and hit them back harder than they hit you.

You are probably looking for a very robust forum, but unfortunately there aren't too many of them around anymore.  The people here know each other well in a cyber sense and just enjoy plodding along in discussions that might be repetitive but are comfortable.

Actually there is a forum where you might enjoy ruffling a few feathers.  Maybe you could give it a go.  I visit it sometimes, but won't post there again, because I am too "sensitive" to the personal abuse I receive.

They are extreme right whingers there and you could have some fun.  The forum is on it's way out - but you might just revive it.

I'm not really looking for a forum.  I have my own forum with over 700 members in it which I hardly visit.  As I said, I was just looking for a spot to "house" the members from Aurora's site since she felt bad for shutting it down on them.  They're into politics and current events and all that crap, but I'm not.

As for me being sensitive   ;D  I was just testing the waters.  The members I was going to refer to this site wouldn't last five minutes in here so I won't bother.

I'm just having a bit of fun with this now and pushing the envelope until Freedriver bans me as promised.

Anytime now!

Well that's OK - glad you're having a little fun.  There is another political forum which is a little quiet and there is very little or no moderation.  It used to be good but it was shut down suddenly and eventually a new one was created.

If any of the ex members of your sister's forum want to visit - anything goes there at the moment while the place establishes a personality again.

I already gave them a few other options yesterday but ta.

From memory, that's the same link that FD sent me on PM right after he said he was banning me.  That's still his site isn't it?  What's the story here?  Why would he ban me on here and ask me to join another section of his site?  hahaha, is that the forum for lepers or something?

I checked it out and it looks pretty ordinary.

Title: Re: Pornography
Post by mantra on Jan 17th, 2009 at 8:21pm
Yes he owns the forum - but has very little input.  FD may have wanted you to help liven the place up a bit.

It's pretty quiet, but it does have the occasional lively moment.  The few people contributing there are making an effort to keep it going - it could probably go in any direction.

It needs some moulding - but it's getting there.

Noone seems interested in the actual topic calanen..but your yes, absolutely right..

But I say since the inception of the internet child abuse and pornography is now rife..worse than ever .

The internet facilitates sexual predators and connects them in internet child porn rings spanning the world in some cases.

Pornography is far more accessible now than it ever was.

Can we get back on topic here..its important!   :-/

TFIFOH, well I have never come across your posts before, unless you are a multiple name bluey.
I realise some idiocy is too much for one identity to bear, but anyone hopeless enough to even think up a title like that, let alone to have the wit to actually use it, is obviously a giant among microbes.

So as far as porn goes, it is just so huge in its varieties, and the differing degrees of degradations it can portray, as to need more than the simple term "porn" to categorise it.
Now plain old, vanilla style Erotica, can be very well done, and enjoyed by many people, but I agree that the influence the internet has had on what is produced, has been dramatic, where some tend to go for more, and more, bizarre and shocking fetishes, in the hope of cashing in.

I think we need to rely pretty much on our standard laws as a guide, and what is not allowed by law, should also not be allowed in porn, other than that, I cannot see how we can effect much control, without impinging on personal freedoms, and expression.

There is a good saying, what is seen, cannot be unseen, so I have always kept that in mind, so I have not seen more than the descriptive titles of the more bizarre types of porn, but of the bits I have seen, a lot is over the top, and certainly would not fill any idea that I consider erotic.

I think a lot of people may just be after shock value.

The first comp I "owned" was a laptop that belonged to someone else and I think her boys had a great time accessing porn sites so that the whole thing was gummed up with viruses from porn sites..

In the middle of typing up an assignment all of a sudden graphic images and some of it actual streamed video footage would flash on the screen..my kids were sitting with me when one such event occurred , it frightened them..

That could not be unseen....

I had to buy a new computer.

I agree the word porn somehow seems not encompass the whole spectrum of  so many different  of genres' of porn..so much history from very early beginnings.

Porn meaning diferent things to diferent people.

How do you supervise kids on the net constantly?  One night when my daughter was about 13, she had a girlfriend staying the night and they were on MSN & webcam.  I heard them giggling hysterically and sneaked up and some boy had himself on display for them.  What can you do though?  You can't censor and filter everything they do, much as you would like to.

The history of pornography....( they seemed to like fuller figured women in the old days)

The arguements for censoring pornography on the Internet have many reasons.  Some of the obvious ones are:

Pornography objectifies and commodifies women.
Pornographers take away children's innocence and exploit them to the fullest.

Pornography contributes to violence against women and children.
Pornogprahy weakens the individual's sense of morality and self-respect.
Pornography glorifies obscenity and promiscuity.

Title: Re: Pornography
Post by tallowood on Jan 19th, 2009 at 11:04pm
I still like fuller figured women this days. I consider circles more perfect then triangles and squares.

As for objectification and commodification of women I strongly disagree. Erotic art is more of a nature of worship of Trinity of Goddesses of Earth, Agriculture and Fertility.

Child pornography is different, though, and should be scoffed at.

So what? When did we start banning promiscuity, are we Saudi Arabia all of a sudden?

And for some reason, I can't post because it tells me I'm posting spam. So I'll just keep it short and say that the government has no place in telling us what our morality should be, what we do in the bedroom and how we do it, or what we get from the internet (except the obvious criminal stuff like child porn etc).

Governments are supposed to be regulating this and keeping society safe..its not working.

You honestly think for one second government cares?

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Government is like organized crime. Only way more proffessional..

They're not there to save the world, or protect the children. Their there to make a profit, take hold of some power, and never have to worry about being told what to do by the likes of small-timers like us..

Government exists primarily for itself. And only minamaly intervenes in helping people so there isn't a fullblown revolution.. The line they walk everyday is a fine one. And that's why countries collapse all the time..

Now that we've gotten that out of the way. There's the reason as to why the government allows it.. Porn is an industry, capitalized by independent entrepenuers and massive coporations alike. Sex is everywhere, not because "it sells itself". But because if exposed to it long enough, like anything else. We adapt, become use to it, and then it sells itself.. We would've never gotten away with distrubuting such raunchy porn fourty years ago. But those with money trained us to enjoy it so they could make more money later. It was an investment that payed off...

The reason the government allows it, is because let's face it.. A society with a poor sense of morality is easier to control then one with an excellent sense of morality. Those with morality treat everybody equal under the law, those with morality are not subject to bribery and intimidation. They're far too gone in their own ideology. That's not benneficary to government. So for their own sake, they allow this to go down. And inturn are able to control you with less effort and less worrysome consequinces. The left has this big worry of 1984. When infact 1984 is improbable. Back any animal into a corner and see what happens. It attacks you. Fear and force are not optimized tools for controlling citizens. But blissful ignorance is... We should be reading less 1984 and more A Brave New World... Every animal needs a leader. Government is your leader. You only think pedophilia is wrong because they told you it was. And they told you it was so fifty years later they can sell childporn and you're going to be crazy old reactionary grandma afraid to live in the present for still thinking it's bad. Meanwhile they'll think of something else to teach the next generation what is bad. They only bestow us with enough morality to where we think we're an upstanding society. Blissful ignorance...

I understand the tennets of our overlords because ever sense I was a little kid I wanted to be like them. When I was asked the common childhood question of "what do you want to be when you growup?" I responded with "dictator". And defensively, they would say "don't you mean president?" and I would proudly announce. "No you dumb bitch, I mean dictator. I want to control what other people think, do, say, act on. Because I am more mature and responsible then they are. My thoughts are more virtous, and I have a right to take that which they abuse.."

This is why my ideology has always been perplexive. Because deepdown, you have been taught to avoid such thoughts. Fascism is bad. But what is fascism other then the public display of government flexing it's muscle? We exprience fascism anyway. But it wouldn't be wise to think about it too much. Or people might start to get mad.. and do something about it..

As I got older, I began to notice there was things I liked more then control. Like women, and human suffering. I began to put serious thought it what would cause more human suffering. Tyranny or freedom. To never know choice is haunting, but to be ruined by your own choices is painful.. Evidently, it really depends on the human in question. Some people take being put on a leash better then others..

Our overlords figured this out long before I did, and perfected it. I can only hope that some crazed idiot will cause an Atlas Shrugged and people will be left to their own devices. No, I don't want a communist utopian, no, I don't want a one world government. I want Mad-Max. Where all the control I need is in the barrel of a gun, and I take what I want from you, and there is no organized faction to stop me. You can call that whatever the hell you want too. But I grewout of wanting to control your life a long time ago. Now I just want what I believe to be rightfully mine, and don't really give a rat's ass what happens to you... I think we all grow more liberal as we get older. Wanting less and less to be infringed upon and understanding the principles of freedom a little bit better. Perhaps I "grewup too fast". And that's why I comeoff as a bit like a terrorist...

But then what do I care? A bunch of slackjawed yokels who can't even control their own sexual urges and are slaves to the free market don't really have a leg to standon when it comes to judging me, now do they?

I think maybe you haven't grown up at all JP, sort of like a Micheal Jackson type character.
Maybe you see yourself as being on the same mental and emotional level as a child, and maybe you actually are.
Quite possibly, you are in fact a twelve year old posting here. Your lack of empathy and level of spelling suggests somewhere around year 7.

If it's not the case that you are merely attention seeking, and your "shock tactic" comments are something that you sincerely believe, then you should definitely seek some help before it's too late.

For even if you dont agree with his veiws, he is controversial, his brain is engaged and his ideas cause us to pause and think outside the norm..

We should not abuse his every post..

There is not a lot to agree with at times, but at times his writing is thought provoking and very entertaining..I find myself agreeing to many things he says about the perverse nature of Govts..

Consider what he is in favour of.

(I am just taking a stab here, as I admit I don't read his posts through, the humour I am searching for I can't find in his posts, assuming he is trolling. Perhaps yanks find it funny.)

Private armies, less government, liberal sex laws, liberal drug laws, total free market. But definitely string pullers up top somewhere. Anarchy etc.

I think JP is quite a breath of fresh air to the largely mundane, brainwashed, closed-minded posts that circulate here.
What's wrong with speaking your mind?
If he is attracted to young girls, then that's really nothing too unusual in the history of man.
What is unusual is that men are now expected to love and obey a fat old blob of crap who waits until she can be financially independent before making a slave of her husband who was working too hard for too many years to see the scheming that was going on in the ditsy mind of a selfish woman.

Let's face it, men are attracted to young voluptuous women. That's just a fact. An older woman needs to provide something much more special than they are currently expected to provide to keep their man satisfied.
Right now, it's the threat of a life of slavery and little else.

You sound like a contented man Amadd!  ;D

Of course males are attracted to young voluptuous women.  Their instincts are to procreate for the rest of their lives - women have a much earlier use by date, although women are attracted to gorgeous young males too.

The trouble is by the time many couples get to a certain age they both become fat old blobs of crap and the female usually doesn't get much of a bargain either.

Women may also be attracted to young men, but in a different way. A woman's primary concerns are protection and financial stability, are they not?
I'd hazard to guess that most divorces are instigated by women these days because it's a good deal.

Well you're just reiterating what I've said.
The young man is for the lust factor alone, and not typically below the age of about 21 for a toy boy.

A husband needs to be able to provide financial security. Once that box is ticked, the husband may no longer be required nomatter how well he treats his wife.

Of course I'm not talking about all marriages. A percentage of them are very successful - albeit on a decreasing scale.

But now more than ever, men take on tasks which were traditionally the woman's role. Now more than ever, the husband is a responsible father and homemaker. And now more than ever, the woman instigates divorce because she has gained financial independence from the marriage and thinks that the grass might be greener on the other side of the hill.

That may be seen as a cynical view, I call it a realistic view, and I have charts and graphs to back me up so f@#k off. :P

Yes but if men didnt want this they should have fought to keep the Status Quo..they didnt they just allowed it to happen to them .. If he really is not happy in this role, he should make it clear..but then this clarity should be happening in the courtship stage, before babies come into the picture.

Men have choices..he should exercise those choices not just whinge.

If she were truly with the man she loved she would not be looking for greener grass..nor divorce. Back to the courtship with this too..its the wheat chaff stage of a relationship..Courtship is the most vital stage..got to get it right here

No its the cynical veiw and the charts and graphs would have been drawn up by men who seethe in silence..misery may love company , but they do not generally do much for evolving , moving on and learning from past mistakes.

Not many men learn from past mistakes in a relationship..except for the most glaring.

1-No sex= blue balls

2-No cooking= empty stomach and tinned baked beans on toast

3-No sock washer = dirty socks

The finer points seem escape them and they keep making said mistakes over and over..mmm the more intelligent sex ?

So Oceanz, you're saying that a man should have a woman worked out before marriage?  ;D
They could never be worked out after 10 lifelong marriages!

The choice was historically quite simple. A woman wanted a good protector and provider, and a man wanted a good carer and supporter.
It seems to me that men are still doing their utmost to live up to their end of the bargain, however, women now have different ideas (surprise suprise) and the law is heavily weighted towards any lame brain idea that enters their pretty fat heads.

I don't see anything remarkable about it. Women are now just under the control of advertising execs. political spin etc.
I doubt if they are generally more respected nowadays by the average Joe than before women's lib. Too many women seem to think they must become a man, and that's pretty sad.
The result of women's lib seems to be a bunch of selfish fat assed family breaker tarts in reality, who in their heads, believe they are something out of sex in the city.

Are women more powerful? In some ways yes, in some ways no. They certainly don't use their strengths very well these days.
But why should it matter anyway? As long as the drones keep getting churned out and the worker ants keep working, then all is fine and dandy at the top of the tree.

It's not all that one sided Amadd although there is some truth in what you say.  I find it a bit sad that the young men today don't have the same confidence they did 30 years ago before "femininism" became well and truly established.

Today it seems as though our young people are confused as to what role they're meant to play.  Females don't understand the benefits, or even know what they are, of being feminine and males have no idea what is expected from them.  There is no direction or lead for them to follow and those few men left with some remnants of decency or gentlemanly behaviour receive little appreciation or encouragement.

I think the real problem Mantra is that women have the option to do as they please, but as always, they still can't make up their mind as to what they want. And as always, they still can't read a map.
Nothing has physically changed.

Chilvary is dead, yes indeed. Why? Because on the one hand it may be see as an insult to the "confident" woman, and on the other hand, they don't deserve any special treatment in a world of so-called "equality".
Equality doesn't exist now any more than it did 10 centuries ago.

Unfortunately, the law now dictates that the man must wait around for the woman to make up her mind. Screw that sh!t.

I never knew that this song had so much meaning, but if you listen carefully to the lyrics, it was ahead of it's time.

Actually FD, that was just a line that I saw on an accountant's t-shirt, I don't really need stats to back up what I see with my own eyes.
Women instigate the majority of western divorces because it's in their nature to require the support of a husband during the child rearing stages. Once this period has ended or is catered for, the usefulness of the husband is greatly diminished.
With a quick google I can find a bit of information on this.

"Statistics tell us that women instigate  more than 75% of today's divorces. This flight of women from marriage has prompted books such as  Maggie Gallagher's The Abolition of Marriage: How We Destroy Lasting Love.  Gallagher calls for a return to fault divorces as a "cure" for divorce. She feels the individual's right to choice and self-gratification has brought an "institution" to the brink of extinction."

That is true, but so do men.  And why can't women read maps?  Maybe it's because we're never given enough time to figure them out.

Equality still doesn't exist - that is true, but chivalry isn't dead, although it's certainly not so obvious today. Chivalry is a natural characteristic of many men, but it has been abused, neglected and ignored.  I often see it coming from the most unlikely sources and it's still appreciated by some of us at least.

The laws have changed recently Amadd, but it's not always men who get the worst deal out of a relationship.  Some of us females have been stiffed pretty badly too, but I find it easier to let go and walk away even if it does involve a horde of cash and emotions.

I had difficulty understanding the lyrics - but then again I'm a female - but both sexes are susceptible to unhappiness, frustration and abuse if that's any consolation.

I'm not talking about all cases and all circumstances, I'm just talking about a general pattern.
Of course marriages end for a variety of reasons, but it is pretty commonplace for a woman to desire more independence when she reaches a certain age. IMO, this is just natural, however, it's not grounds for divorce.
Both parties are usually the losers in some way, but if a divorce is instigated for no valid reason, then the instigator should walk away with very little or nothing - in a fair system that is.

The song was about too many choices causing a confused society.

in some ways your right about the equality question..this is so because while there are men out there who feel impotent, as you seem to..this is not equality. Think of it this way..women can only have equality whilst men allow it ,its men who make the laws right? Society revolves around these laws...In this sense we are almost passive onlookers, we have very little say in how these laws are constructed. If it were up to women there would be no wars etc..the world would be a completely different place.

We can all change the status quo in our own world, for our own life. I dont feel down trodden by a man now..as I used to once..I am now in charge of my own life..in many ways it tougher[ financially], but my own sense of personal peace is much improved..btw chivalry is not dead..i have seen it..

Forget the law then..as I see it many are slaves to their own sense of powerlessness..you are not! You are shackled to societies indoctrination that we all experience from the cradle to the grave..conform, conform!! Just dont!!

We have choices..exercise your choices to suit your own life.

First of all you have to believe in lasting love..and that depends on how you define love in the first instance..some pple are love junkies and chase the perfect love constantly, going from one relationship to another..when the first phase of love changes and evolves, they believe they have fallen out of love because they are no longer sexually panting after they're partner, they do not have the maturity to allow the natural phases of love to pass through its natural evolution and settle into the comfortable phase..this mainly applies to men..most women can make these  adjustments because they have too..they are usually the main carers for the kids and cannot afford to be that flighty, fickle or irresponsible.

Descibing marriage as "institution" is the best reason I can think of to avoid it like the plague.

Very well said and very profound Oceanz.  Sometimes we blame others for our own weaknesses.  It doesn't make us feel better, only more hopeless and helpless.  It's easier just to concentrate on our own strengths and utilise what we have to the best of our ability.

Yes I'm sure that you can read a map better GW Bush can read "My pet goat". But it is a generalisation, because that's what I'm doing - generalising. I'm also pointing out what I think is bs about the system. If you don't think that I should be complaining then maybe you should sit down with your kids and enjoy some internet porn together - No sense in complaining about what you can't change you know.

And where did you see the chivalry? On a Clark Gable movie, or did you experience a dutch oven?

Regrets, I've got a few - but then again, too few to mention.

That was my point. Whether or not this figure is correct, I'm not sure. I suspect it's pretty close.
My reasoning is that women have a natural tendency to require more independence after the normal (or historical) child rearing years. I've heard no argument from you or mantra there.
If this is the case, then there is a "general" tendency for men to be set up for a lifetime of slavery and to lose a lot of contact with their kids for doing nothing else other than working their butt off for years on end. I see it a lot, and there has been times where I would've conformed to this system had I not experienced the pitfalls first hand. iii

Unfortunately I do understand your self obsessed, self pitying ravings about how the femles gender ruin mens lives, including your own. Yes AG, I agree I used some poor grammar there, but I was talking about you editing your statement and not changing "too" to "to" which have two (not too or to) entirely different meanings.

It seems to me that it's you who got all huffy when I brought up facts about western divorce and the reasons I'm assuming for their existence.
If you have a problem with these figures and assumptions which I see as being factual, then you should debate them like a grown-up and not throw out thinly veiled personal attacks.

And the thing about people who like to dole out unrequested advice, is that it is they who are usually most in need of it.
I've been looking after myself since I was 12. I'm not in great need of advice thanks, but I have no problem with asking for it (from a trusted source) if required.
Calling me "impotent" wasn't greatly appreciated either, although it was somewhat amusing as a diversion to the point I raised. But thanks anyway if you intended it to be helpful in some strange and twisted way.

I'm going back a bit on this one - but independance was thrust on me when my children were very young, so I didn't have a choice and being independant is not a novelty that's for sure.  Maybe it would be different if I had been dependant on someone for years, took him for granted and was bored - but I'm just assuming that might be the case.

Actually the order of the day was cutting the head off after first night when they lost their virginity rather then stabbing in the back. The remarkable or some would say miraculous thing about Shaherazad was that she managed to wear out the caliph without loosing virginity and her head.
