Penn&Teller is a pretty cool guy, and isn't afraid of nothing lol!

Pretty much nothing they say I don't already know. But they say it in a way that's less hostile then I would. Because frankly I just don't like people..

They talk about how not all recycling is bad. Cans and to a lesser extent plastics are cheaper to recycle for the companies then to mine for more matirials. So recycling improves the economy.

But it has nothing to do with "saving the Earth". The video gives graphic detail of how all the machines that go into recycling paper and other commodities besides cans/plastics, tend to do more harm then good, resulting in more carbon gas emmission, more bleach and other chemichals spreading throughout the rain forest, and generally it's counter productive to the economy and to energy conservationism.

So why do it?

Because it's a brilliant scam invented by the government to not only take more of your money.. But make you feel bad for it if you say no. This is what seperates government from a petty thug. They make you feel bad when you don't let them screw you over. Like an abusive relationship.

And frankly I don't care, I'm well aware of the abuse, I just shrug my shoulders and figure "ohwell, atleast everybody else is getting abused too" and am not going to lift a finger to help anyone till I see some anti-abortion incentives.. But that's a topic for another day..

I agree that some recycling is counter productive, but not all by any means. You have to take each one on its merits. A lot depends on volume and transport distance.

Glass may be economical to recycle one month and lose money the next depnding on prices. Right now with all commodity prices depressed, it is hardly economically viable to recycle at all.

(Just found an airport Internet kiosk. - You can't grag me away from here LOL)
