I am passionate about trees..

I get upset when  anyone enters my property to fell a "problem tree"..especailly when its a very old tree.



When faced with the devastation of old growth forrests in Australia and around the world...just decimated for say paper or furniture or woodchipping, its a terrible waste and makes me more than alittle upset.

The loss of trees that have taken hundreds if not thousand of years to grow..just felled with no regard to the impact the loss of these trees have on the environment and the homes they provide for so many species that will ultimately be gone due to the loss of habitat.

Why are humans so stupid ?..they live for today with no thought to the future.

I'm with you oceanZ...........I was so furious when a neighbour cut down a tree, not his own, but his next door neighbour's public land tree. He hacked at it for months and months, ring barking it, and every time new shoots appeared, he'ld hack at them. The problem in doing anything about it meant the person who's property the tree was on would need to take the crazy, angry man to court. He's already been doing things to spite her because he's been caught watering his lawn and had several warnings and fines.........and he blames her for the dobbing in.
I know it's not deforrestation but it was an old, healthy elm tree that was cut down because he doesn't like racking up leaves. It should be dealt with like a crime.  

A Chinese Elm? Good riddance. Send him to Bunnings for some Glyphosate. They are an invasive pest.

Kindred Spirits.

I was with trees last weekend. One had a breadth of 8 arm spans.
When trees get big they are a real influence.
He was a staunch old man of the forest.

The plans for a new permaculture garden in my new house are going well.
Anyone who knows what a permaculture garden is would be very welcoming for one.
