"I've been in military and intelligence circles, who know that beneath the surface of what has been public knowledge, yes – we have been visited. "Reading the papers recently, it's been happening quite a bit." Dr Mitchell, along with Apollo 14 Commander Alan Shepard, still holds the record for the longest ever moonwalking session at nine hours and 17 minutes following their 1971 mission. Officials from NASA, were quick to play the comments down. In a statement, a spokesman said: "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe. "Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinions on this issue."

This is not new. I saw YouTube films by astronauts from Apollo missions showing UFOs in orbit around Earth. They were kept secret for 30 odd years until a few years ago when they were declassified (at the same time when the JFK assasination reports were).

It's interesting that you've said that. Which probably brings us to a seperate thread. Devout Christians (particularly evangelical) do not believe in aliens because God create Adam and Eve in his image (and no one else). Therefore, we are alone in this universe.

How does that compare with a Muslim view of God creating other lifeforms?

Don't they also say that dinosaurs didn't exist? I could be wrong but that's what I read. Islam doesn't partake in any such beliefs.

Consier that we believe in the Jinn, they are another life form. Plus God is known as the Lord of the Worlds.

God doesn't say that we on Earth are the only life that He has created so it's entirely possible that we aren't. I definitely wouldn't be surprised at all.

In fact I'm sure it'd explain a whole lot of things.

What are Jinn? Aren't they some tribal spirit thing predating Islam?

The question you probably should be asking is who here believes in intelligent alien lifeforms. And if so, how intelligent are they - advanced beyond current human intelligence and technology; or predating current human conditions?

Both, I would think if there are other life forms there could be many,some more advanced that maybe drive flying saucers and some that are mere crustations.

sentient - capable of perception and feeling [Latin sentiens feeling].

I really hope there is something out there, and they make contact shortly, and declare war on the governments of the world and give us freedom from them, but hang around watching to make sure no one who conducts evil gets away with it. That would be their only interference. Oh, and also they give us the technology to live happily, healthily, well nourished and in harmony with our environment.

It would be nice.

An alien armada made themselves known to the world. They asked to meet all the world leaders. So, every single leader of every single nation gathered at the UN building in New York and met a delegation of alien visitors.

"For 10,000 years your race has been an experimental project of ours. We have been watching and monitoring your world progress. We have been unimpressed with your efforts. Your world is chaotic with sparodic wars. We are very disappointed. Therefore, we've decided to terminate the project and your world."

The leaders of the world pleaded in unison for a second chance. "We'll clean up our act. We will do better!"

"Ok" said the aliens, "We will return in 1 week."

So the leaders got together, settled their difference, abolished all geographic and political boundaries, allocated and evenly distributed the wealth to all nations. There is no longer east and west, poor and rich coountries, they abolished religion, and all races are given equal rights.

A week passed and the aliens returned. They leaders congregated and presented to the aliens their achievement. "What we cannot do in thousands of years, we've achieved in 1 week. This world is finally united and finally at peace."

The alien then replied, "You've misunderstood. We've created this world and bred your species to be a warrior race for our army. Your efforts are in vain and a failure to us. You will be terminated!"
