I know one thing sprint, the christians win the best heaven award.
In Islam heaven you can't even get a beer, that sounds more like the other place to me. ;D On a serious note, I believe that most religions do not really understand the true concept of heaven and hell. They externalise these concepts as something outside of their lives, to be aspired to, or worked toward in another life. This attitude causes them to diminish their ability to truly find heaven, as a state of fulfillment, and contentment, in this life, which I believe is what the great philosophers were alluding to. The world is, and always has been, filled with more beauty and joy than any man can experience, and also full of more horror and despair than any man can cope with. A well balanced person will try and ground their perspective, in the knowledge of these two factors in their existence, and try not to focus entirely on one or the other. We are daily presented with a cavalcade of woes in our media, which tends to lead many to allow the negatives in life to consume them. A hug from someone you love, a smile from a stranger, a kind word, an act of charity, a piece of art, a beautiful sunrise, all things like these, allow us to experience the positives of life. Personally, my idea of heaven is fostering a state of mind where I am truly receptive to these positives, and am able to appreciate them as the greatest gifts this world can bestow on us. |

Heaven would be like being in a world cup final, where you score the winning try in extra time.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D |

I liked the old ones that had chunks of caramel. They don't make those any more and the strawberry classic and vanilla bean versions are pale imitations of the older style.
The new caramel truffle ones you get in multipacks from the supermarket are ok, but not as good as the originals. It's a good job they brought them out, because I was just on the point of organising a noisy demonstration outside the Nestlé factory. I only have one per week, and Heaven ice-creams are about the nearest I get to drugs of any kind. ;) |

Heaven wil be like that field when you were young.
The grass was calf high, spongy as wool, sky was clear and blue, not too hot. A light wind wafting around. |

I don't really know. But I can imagine that it will be a really wonderful place where we'll be reunited with loved ones. |

Heaven is on the other side of the fence where the grass is greener.

If heaven is going to be full of the pious hypocrites who inhabit churches, I'll pass I think.

Even though so many of us don't really believe in Heaven, in the back of our minds we still foster an image of what it will be like when we die.
I'd like to think that if Heaven exists that when I arrive I will be 20 years old again and all my old friends and animals will be there to greet me, but I'll still have the power to be a guardian angel to my children and any offspring they might have. I also agree with Mozzaok that we should try to develop a state of mind where we are receptive and appreciative of all the little positives in this life and like Sprintcyclist I hope that: Heaven will be like that field when you were young. The grass is calf high, spongy as wool, sky was clear and blue, not too hot. A light wind wafting around. Sounds good - being a Christian, you could almost look forward to dying. |

I don't care, I never got an invite.
I will just make do with my hedonistic ways on earth as my proxy heaven. ::) |

Dunno 'bout that. I know lots of aged people who have had enough of this Life, for one reason or another.

All fluffy white clouds and nowhere to sit.
Would we have to be on our best behaviour all day and will God be watching our every move.? If we can't eat it would be very boring. Can we wear colours or will we get a warning ( like Tennis players do) if we deviate from the code.? ie: strictly white. Can we have a relationship even.? Can we be productive in heaven and if so doing what.? So many questions. Oh and do I get wings. :P |

Yes I think He would be Oceans! Most of us would probably be quite well behaved in Heaven but those who haven't behaved properly on earth, or have unresolved issues, will be stuck in purgatory indefinitely. I recently read an interesting (but stupid) book about a WWII soldier who had his head blown off in battle and was reincarnated 40 years later as a 21 year old pot farmer. This dead soldier (Walter) had huge issues that needed resolving ie best friend wanted him dead and married Walter's true love after the war. These issues were resolved via the pothead farmer who eventually went straight, although he ended up in love with a 60 year old woman. But the way Walter could flit from one state to another at whim and materialise on certain occasions was quite appealing. The moral of the story was "do the right thing on earth and old ghosts won't come back to haunt you". |
