The NSW Department of Education has defended its suspension of a Sydney teacher who posed nude for women's magazine Cleo - despite being forced to reinstate her.

Year one teacher Lynne Tziolas was suspended last month over the nude photo shoot with her husband Antonios Tziolas.

A spokesman for the department said Ms Tziolas had been reinstated on full pay, but would not return to Narraweena Public School.

A casual job was now being sought for the teacher.

The Tziolases appeared together in a sealed section of last month's Cleo magazine, frankly discussing their relationship and sex life, alongside nine other couples.

Outrage at Narraweena Public School in northern Sydney led to the 24-year-old's suspension, but she was reinstated on Friday after fighting the NSW Department of Education's decision.
