Title: Texas children roped into Islamic training Post by sprintcyclist on Jun 3rd, 2008 at 12:04pm
By Bob Unruh
© 2008 WorldNetDaily Friendswood Junior High Public school students at Friendswood Junior High in the Houston area have been roped into Islamic training by representatives from the Council on American-Islamic Relations during class time, prompting religious leaders to protest over Principal Robin Lowe's actions. Pastor Dave Welch, spokesman for the Houston Area Pastor Council, confirmed the indoctrination had taken place and called it "unacceptable." "The failure of the principal of Friendswood Junior High to respect simple procedures requiring parental notification for such a potentially controversial subject, to not only approve but participate personally in a religious indoctrination session led by representatives of a group with well-known links to terrorist organizations and her cavalier response when confronted, raises serious questions about her fitness to serve in that role," the pastors' organization said. According to a parent, whose name was withheld, the children were given the Islamic indoctrination during time that was supposed to be used for a physical education class. "I am simply trying to get the word out to those whose kids may not have told them about an Islamic presentation that all kids were required to attend," wrote the parent, who was working to assemble protests to the school board. WND previously has reported how public school textbooks being used across the nation have begun promoting Islam, teaching even the religious doctrines. WND also has reported on several other school situations in which Islam has been taught as a required subject, and when administrators have defended those decisions. In the Texas case, a school e-mail to parents provided only a half-hearted acknowledgement that such mandatory religious indoctrination might not have been the best decision. If they can't get in publically, beware of the sneaky backdoor methods. |

It was the schools idea and the school itself didn't advise parents which they should have. CAIR isn't responsible for this at all. Also the presentation was designed to dispel misconceptions about Islam, not preach. The topics covered were Muslim culture, including topics such as food, religion, dress, beliefs (what we believe and how we are different) and famous Muslims. We wouldn't have to do this if liars like yourself didn't try and portray Islam incorrectly. It's people like you who'd love to keep these kids ignorant because then you can spread your ideas of hate and brainwash them.. YOU are the one who'd like to indoctrinate them.. NOT the Muslims.. |

I agree with Malik, this was in the US, afterall.
They are so thick, and so racist, that most kids would be led to think that "All" muslims were evil terrorists, and to have someone explain the reality that most are just like them and their families, decent hardworking family oriented people, can only be a good thing. There is no suggestion of preaching, and my response would be diametrically opposed if it were, so to spread some understanding to kids is exactly what we want. It is what I want muslims to do with their youth, and we should do the same, to help people see the common humanity is in itself a step away from violent extremism. |

1/ Did the principal not notuify the parents ?
2/ Was it led by members of a group with links to terrorists ? 3/ Was that time intended to be for physical education time ? these are more questions that will be unanswered. This is about #6 of unanswered questions. This is common behaviour amongst muslims when questions. They divert the question and do not answer. On the net and in real life. All the americans I have met are not thick or racist. Small minded to label 300 million people as such. Where is the violent extremist coming from ?? |

Most Americans have little or no understanding of the world outside the US. Many would be lucky if they could point to China on a map. After 9/11, many hindus, sikhs and even anglo-indians were being attacked throughout the US. If you were dark skinned and Asiatic looking (especially if you wore a funny hat), you were considered a likely terrorist supporter. |

Sprint , this is no different to what you do when hectored by questioning or when asked to account for all of Christian thought and deeds... Or when manoeuvred into a corner. |

1.the principal didn't notify the parents. she should have.. 2. CAIR doesn't have links to terrorists, they were named as a unindicted co-conspirator to funding a terror organisation.. that is simply because they helped raise money which in good faith that they expected to be sent towards providing emergency relief to orphans and people affected by disasters but some of which allegedly was spent providing money to charities that hamas was allegedly supposed to fund. thus subsidising hamas. there is a lot of speculation in the case but the FBI knows for a fact that CAIR isn't responsible for that, they acted in good faith and that is why CAIR hasn't been indicted. 3. I have no idea if they were supposed to be having physical education time, that is kind of a moot point because it's not as if the ladies from CAIR who did the presentation said to the principal 'hey, lets prevent them from doing PE and give them this presentation instead' |

Hi helain -
who is pat robertson, what are his quotes ? |

Pat Robertson is your extreme, evangelical christian, right wing redneck, who has a cable show in the US.
Stephen Colbert parodies him. So he is the guy who says all that funny stuff, but actually means it. Google his name and you will see lots of YouTube videos of him. There is a very funny one of him losing it when his teleprompter stops working, and bursts into a rage of expletives, very funny. Sadly, many americans think he is right on the money, when he spouts his ultra right-wing garbage. |

He's that nut case Christian televangelist and one-time Republican US presidential nominee campaigner who makes outrageous statements against just about every non-Christian faith (although he's partial to Jews). Spouts hate filled jibberish rants such as 'Islam - the Christian heresy' or 'Muslims are Satanic' or 'Christians are better qualified to govern the US over Hindus and Muslims' - strangely he included Jews with Christians on that issue (always got an eye on whose got the clout has old Pat)... on and on he goes with outrageous unsubstantiated shyte... It's a wonder you haven't heard of him. |

helian - right, no not heard of him before.
as to his topics - "muslims- chrisitian heretics " , I could agree with that. Though muslims accept jesus as a prophet, they don't accept him as being who christians do. "muslims are satanic" - no. "christians better qualified to govern" - I believe a belief should have nothing to do with politics . So the two topics there should be entirely unrelated. |
