Title: AMA vs the film industry
Post by freediver on Jun 2nd, 2008 at 11:50am
I just caught this on the news this morning. The Australian Medical Association is calling for a ban on all government funding of films that depict smoking. Apparently shooting up heroin is OK. This is an absurd over-reaction to the problem. You cannot try to ban something from our TV screens that people are allowed to do in puiblic. It is a slippery slope to censorship when the government tries to stop people seeing 'bad' things on TV.

My thoughts exactly FD, we are getting way too precious, and the nanny state is getting out of control.
When will government and bureaucrats stick to looking after the big picture, instead of trying to micromanage every aspect of our lives?
