Title: sorry about the downtime Post by freediver on May 15th, 2008 at 3:38pm
Sorry about the extended downtime. I have most of the site back up and running. The backup I restored from is a bout a month old. I have another one that is only 48 hours old, but I haven't installed it yet.
Feel free to start and respond to new threads. However, if you respond to an old thread over the next few hours, your post may get deleted as I restore the more recent backups. |

Go ahead and post as usual now.
Unfortunately it seems that I did not have a backup of all the recent posts. If there are any threads in particular you want me to try to look for, please let me know. I'm not sure why some of the recent activity is missing. Sorry about that. If the old hosts get their act together and come back online then I will be able to restore the most recent versions on a thread by thread basis, but that may take a while. |

They're extremely cheap and have hardly missed a beat for me in the last 5 years. |

Thanks muso.
Update: Hostingdepartment.net have taken their support forum offline. This is not a good sign. My original support ticket was closed without feedback. I have submitted another ticket asking them to make available to me a copy of all my files, even if they can't get their server back online. It seems that their 'sister company', ukeasily.co.uk, is still running smoothly and there are suggestions that they have abandoned hostingdepartment customers entirely to focus on the other company. I threatened to damage their reputation if they didn't give me back the files. |

freediver - no problems. Hardly as though it would be your doing to have your site down !!!!!!

I got some feedback 'third hand' that the downed server will be back up within 48 hours, which would allow me to start restoring lost files.

I just got an email from Paul Berry at hostingdepartment.net, He said: "hopefully we will have the server back shortly"
They closed my support tickets again without responding. If only they could put as much effort into keep sites online. |
