Post by oCeAnIc on Mar 20th, 2008 at 5:48pm
Is it real?

If so how does it present?

Grumpy, reduced libido, hair loss , changed physique etc..

Im thinking male menpause is very real- but will men admit it?

Menopause is by definition a cessation of menstruation.

Well I have read  evidence that the drop in testosterone is the equivelant of the male menopause because similiar bodily functions and moods are effected by its lack.

i think the main difference oceans is men tend to lose their testosterone over a long period of time gradually, women get it over a shorter period making it more obvious?

I thought it was called a male mid life crisis - and it really affects them more psychologically than physically.

But do males ever lose their testosterone?  They can father children until the day they die and although some males lose their sex drive - the majority don't, although in some cases they need a little bit of help maintaining their thingibijig with viagra or similar as they age.

Bob has had several mid life crises.  His answer is to get his slimy hands on some Liebor crumpet.

I think that sounds very likely  pender. And women have a definite time frame..within a couple of years either side in which menopause occurs.

Many men are struggling with tiredness..lack of libido, depression, mood swings etc and thinking that theres nothing they can do for it. Because theres little awareness..they dont seek help for say ..testosterone replacement..which will put the zing back into their step..help with libido, hair/muscle  loss etc..

Male midlife crisis is triggered by this problem mantra..men look in the mirror and see their hair thinning, loss  of muscle mass ,  decreased libido and they panic..ta da..midlife crisis/panic. Help, Im getting old, new car -younger women.

Males dont lose all their testosterone..just as women dont lose all their estrogen, but very decreased levels in both sexes cause physical and mental symptoms..

Women experience descreased concentration, loss of memory function, unstable moods [some not all]

HRT is very useful for some, male and female.

That's not a great idea Oceans. It's better to ban them and leave it at that than to start insulting them. You need to demonstrate the behaviour you want to see in others.
