WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK..................I THINK IT'S ABOUT TIME

On one hand, i think the 'stolen generations' should thank us for taking them out of poverty, pedeophilia/incest, drugs and alcohol and giving them an education and careers.

On the other hand, an apology is a worthwile thing for the breaking up of families. but that is all.

Another point, you must remember that the 'stolen generations' were all half castes and were shunned by the full blooded Abo's.

They have their apology now, that will be forgotten about and they will whinge about something else.
Why have they said nothing about the tribal elders rooting their children, why do they not kick up about the fact that most of their race are drug addicts, theives, criminals thugs, unemployable and have no future. It's just a shame the few who actually care about themselves, work hard don't drink, don't take drugs and don't condone anti-social behavior get no recognition whatsoever.

After reading the post's left by  other member's, I don't know wether to laugh, pity or be enraged at what I have read. I am a indigenous woman, married with 3 children, and I am also of the Stolen Generation.
               So many people seem to be uneducated on the subject, which is not their fault. The 'WE APOLOGISE' that was left by more than one person's, left me laughing so much, as surely people have posted this as a joke , no one could be that immature to bielieve that this is fact?
               I am not half cast, but I was removed from my family, so the statement that only the half caste children were taken is absolute rubbish, like nearly all the statements that were posted.
               It puzzles me that people say that 'they' are not going to apologise. Guess what, you don't have to!
               The Goverment bought in all those policies years ago that effected our people, and it was the Goverment today, that made the apology . I can not understand why individuals have the bielief that they have to personally apologise.
                Just a few questions I have.......
                1. WHAT INTEREST FREE LOANS? My husband & I own our home/property, and had a bank loan like anyone else. Another myth..

                6.FREE TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA? Damn it! And to think I just paid almost  $1000 in air fares for my family and I to fly to Melbourne! I will have to contact the flight company to let them that we are indigenous and get my money returned. I'm sure they will be understanding.

in WA aboriginals do reap millions from oil and gas and mining because it is on their historical lands. Why did you go through a bank for your housing loan? you are eligable for low interest housing loans from the government
$48,000 per aboriginal person is what is given to aboriginals in government benefits.
No rent on lands is in relation to Stations that are set up to aid aboriginal commuities in order for them to earn money for their communities.
My post mis-represented my position on this issue people such as yourself deserve the respect of every Australian. My anger lies with the alcoholic, drug addicted, thieving majority who will not even work in their own house let alone at job.

Are you a drug addict, an anti social alcoholic, a thief do you break into houses to steal money for any of these habits.
Judging by your post you are educated, literate honest and hardworking. It saddens me that I have offended you because you deserve any government assistance you are elligable for, the thing is you don't seem to have taken advantage of it, you must admit you are a vast minority within your race. I have a friend who works on outback stations in WA and NT who stays with me sometimes when he comes to town. He spends thousands of his hard earned $$$ on his 4wd, I asked him one day-
me  "why don't you just get a new one"
him "I can't afford a new one"
me "you only have to make 3 payments and the government will pay it out for you"
him "no, no I buy my own car"
This man does not drink, does not smoke, books up a couple of hundred dollars in credit in town then goes back to work and has his boss put the money into his creditors accounts from his wages.
I feel priveliged to know this man and I am proud that he calls me a friend. His own "friends" and family bum lifts hundreds of kms to buy grog, and give him no fuel money they have stolen his car several times and stolen money from him.

Don't you also have to modify the kb on the picture - if it's too large, the pic won't upload.  From memory you also had to have the website address.  I could be wrong, but maybe FD will confirm it.

Yeah, freediver is pretty tight fisted on the size so it does need to be modified to fit.

Willy if you have a pic you want to put up I can re-size it for you if you like.  Let me know.

If the file is hosted elsewhere, I don't think the size matters (though it will still slow down the site). It only rejects big files if you try the option of loading from your PC. I can also help with resizing if you want. Another option is to load it onto the gallery (see link above) which will generate a thumbnail automatically. You can then enter the thumbnail URL.

Also willy you have been logged out so you will have to log back in first.

Why have a tiny thumbnail?  A decent size avatar looks cool.

Big ones.  At least 150 x 150 pixels and 50 kbs in size.

Would you mind bringing it up on the feedback board? Start a new thread titled 'avatar size' or something like that. I will give it a try for you and see what the other members think.

I don't think the avatars should be any bigger Freediver - it's too distracting.  Nothing is worse than great huge pictures with heaps of flashing lights and movements.  Very trashy.

This forum needs to be streamlined even more - not enhanced by huge pictures which take ages to load up.

Willy - I don't think you can send the photo through messages - so you'll have to post your photo on one of the threads to FD or DT.  To attach it just click on "Browse" underneath the message and your picture should be either in your "pictures" or maybe "documents".    Type in the name of the picture you have saved where it says "file" and then press the "open" button next to where you've typed the name.  Or it might come up automatically.  Then just press "post".

The URL is the name of the site where you got the picture from - if that's what you want to use.

FD or DT can downsize it for you and send it back.

I have reduced the size of merou's and willy's avatars. They were over one and two MB respectively, which made MS paint a bit slow. The upload limit has been reset to 10kb.
