Dunno how long you've been going, but by comparison, just the current incarnation of PA has 174813 articles.......and it seems IT is for the scrap heap!!!!!

The site started in November 2006. I think it was about half way through last year that the forum started to pick up.

Yesterday we equalled the record for the most number of members online at once - 9. It has stood since july last year.

It is small, but I think this is the general nature of Aussie MBs (in this genre). The last smaller sized MB I posted on in the US, started mid-2006, had 564 members, over 126,000 articles, most users online 1,145. A larger one started about 18 months ago has over 10,000 members, with 1,288 active members, 8,506 threads, and nearly 167,000 posts. But the size of the US must be factored in, some 300 million people.

I posted for a while on Oz ABC forums, which had an awful policy of approving posts before they went on the board, which could be up to 10-15 minutes, and sometimes edited. When they chopped up one post I did, to suit their PC tastes, I gave it away. I think this MB (Oz ABC) has been dead since 2006. No wonder.

Yeah, but it has that cosy homely feeling about it. Almost like sitting by the fire place with your partner watching TV under the doona on a cold rainy night.

;)

Small is good. It's easier to get your point across without getting drowned out by the mass chatter.

Congrats OZ Politics!

Yeah, but if you are only getting it across to a handful of people, is there any point?

Ok, I take your point, but only because I could read it without it being lost among chatter.

I've been in other forums where you can make post and 5 minutes later it's on the 5th last page because of the sheer volume of simultaneous posts moving your comment so far back that it most likely to be missed. Or, I will miss good comments by others.

I'm not out to change the world. I'm not trying to preach to the masses. Therefore, I don't need a masses to get my point. I prefer to have a quiet conversation with a few people than yell into a blowhorn at a rally.

:)

Thanks, yes, it puts it into perspective.

How many of those 177 are the same person  ::)

How many of those have posted in the last, say, 2 months?

Click on the column headings. you should be able to get all the info you need. Two of the members are me. A few others seem to have two accounts, but I think most of the aliases were deleted.

We hit a new record today - 18 members online at once. I think the previous record was 14, from October 2008 (or here). I just checked and 7 of the 13 members now online look like ex yahoo members. You guys have breathed a lot of life into this place. Thanks.

19 at lunch time today, and it wasn't even a weekend!

23 on Thursday.

Congrats, this is a good site and the mods have done a bang up job controlling some of the less desirable elements who came across from the "site that shall not be named" recently.
Congrats on the growth of the site and the professional way it is run  :)
