I'm not sure of the current rate but I believe 1c/kWh would be cheap.

No doubt $5/kWh would be insanely/prohibitavely expensive.

"Are the very large rechargeable batteries a reality a the present moment?", would seem to be the next relevant question.

Energy storage isn't economically viable at the moment. I'm not sure if it ever will be on a large scale. Given the figures you quoted I didn't think this had anything to do with reality.

Well it would certainly save energy as the whole country moved to a country without a Liebor Government.  But who would keep filling the trough?
