Title: Is the human race worth dying to save?
Post by cautious connie on Oct 13th, 2007 at 7:08pm
Christ supposedly gave his life for the benefit of the human race. Is the human race really worthy of survival? Some people talk about the nobility of the good soldier, putting his life on the line for the sake of the lives of others. But how much of the human race is worth saving and would you give your own life to save it?

And what did jesus save us for anyway?

Is the saving symbolic in that it is allowing humans to use their own judgement and freewill and this si what he gave us? Or was he just part of a promotional activity to make sure we all believe in the head honcho God, sinc ehe rose again?

How is this christ thing meant to work?

What are we meant to have gotten from it? Is it just that God did not strike us down and just let him die instead? Are we some psyche supply for the afterworlds or soemthing and we were needed to breed?

Hi connie,
Good to see you here. I've been feeling pretty non-spiritual lately, so have not posted here.

Good questions you ask though.
My thoughts on what you ask is this:
When we sin, we distance ourselves from God. We step away from what we were meant to be.
In God there is no sin, so it is not that He moves away from us because we sin.
It is that we voluntarily step away from Him.

In the Old testament, when a sin is done, there is a price to pay for it.
Often a sacrifice (a perfect lamb, pidgeon or bull.)
This redeems the sin and makes our spirital relationship right with God again.
It restores the relationship between the individual and God.

Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice for all sins for everyone.
That we may only believe in him and our sins are already paid for by his sacrifice.
Our individual relationship with God is rectified, redeemed.

We have always had our own judgment and freewill.  From the time of Adam and Eve.

Hope that helps. Those are just my thoughts, anyone else may have different thoughts.

Take care

No we are not worth saving. Jesus should have kept his mouth shut and not die in vain for us.
And strangely enough, more people have died for HIM BY THE SWORD than murders or suicides which are 'sins' in christian eyes. yet the wars were seen as holy and good. ::)
