Title: Things my elders used to say .
Post by sprintcyclist on Jul 1st, 2007 at 3:43am
Here is a thread for sayings our parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles used to say.

Funny or wise, useless or helpful.  Some of the flotsum and jetsum of youth.

This is a bedtime story dad used to tell me sometimes.
My kids love it too.

"It was a dary and stormy night. The ocean was wild, waves crashed like locomotives.
The wind shreaked like demons. It was pitch black and the rain threw itself at us pitilessly.
We were scared and huddled into the helmsroom.
The captain said to the cabinboy, "Cabinboy, tell us a story."
And the story went like this "It was a dary and stormy night.
The ocean was wild, waves crashed like locomotives. The wind shreaked like demons.
It was pitch black and the rain threw itself at us pitilessly.
We were scared and huddled into the helmsroom.

I remembered another one. This one is better said out aloud, same as the last one.

"Oneone was a racehorse
Twotwo was one too
Oneone won one race
Twotwo won one too."

Dads are so clever.  :)

"Mary had a little lamb,

her father shot it dead,

And now she takes the lamb to school,

Between two hunks of bread."

"Mary had a little lamb,

And everywhere that mary went,

Its sooty foot it put."
